After the failure at the U20 Asian Cup, U20 Indonesia is actively preparing for the 2023 U20 World Cup held at home in May. In the upcoming tournament, the team from the archipelago will have to face the world's top teams.

However, before this tournament, PSSI set a very high goal for U20 Indonesia. During a visit to the team training at Kapten Wayan Dipta Stadium, new President Erick Thohir said the goal is to pass the group stage of the U20 World Cup.

The head of Indonesian football said: "In the discussion with coach Shin Tae Yong, we agreed on the goal of passing the group stage. We are planning to materialize this goal.

If we set high goals, we must prepare as seriously as possible. In the near future, U20 Indonesia will have a long-term training trip. This period of time helps the players understand each other better. From there, Coach Shin Tae Yong has the opportunity to review the team before the World Cup."

This is a goal beyond the imagination of many people. Because, U20 Indonesia was eliminated from the group stage of the U20 Asian tournament. Therefore, very few people believe that they can make a miracle when facing strong opponents in the world.

According to PSSI Technical Director Indra Sjafri, Indonesia U20 will have a training trip in Korea before the U20 World Cup. Previously, coach Shin Tae Yong chose the Netherlands as the base but later decided to change the location.

"I don't know why coach Shin Tae Yong decided to change the location, but the weather in Korea seems to be very good for improving the players' physical condition. They are also used to training there," said Indra Sjafri.

The draw for the FIFA U-20 World Cup will take place on March 31 at the Ksirarnawa Taman Budaya Arts Centre Building, Denpasar, Bali (Indonesia). FIFA has now confirmed the 24 names participating in the tournament. The seeded list includes:
