Vietnam U20 women receive big advantage from AFC before U20 Asian Cup qualifying round 2

Vietnam U20 won a place in the second qualifying round of the 2024 Asian Cup U20 Women's Championship by topping Group F. According to the results of the second qualifying round draw on March 23, Vietnam U20 Women's Championship is in Group A with opponents Australia, Iran and Lebanon. Group B includes China, Myanmar, Nepal and Chinese Taipei.

With the success of hosting the first qualifying round, AFC decided to let VFF continue to host matches in Group A, qualifying round 2 of the 2024 U20 Women's Asian Cup. This will give coach Akira Ijiri and his team a huge advantage when playing at home to welcome the top Asian women's team, Australia.

The second qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship is scheduled to take place from June 3 to June 11. According to the schedule, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team will meet Iran and Lebanon before facing Australia U20 in the final round.

Head coach of Vietnam U20 women - Akira Ijiri - said: "I think Vietnam U20 women have entered a group with very strong teams. To win, Vietnam U20 women need to be really determined. The coaching staff will plan to prepare carefully for this second qualifying round, the team will have to build a solid defense, quickly change the state and improve the ability to score goals".

The match of the Vietnam U20 women's team in the first qualifying round of the U20 Asian Cup took place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).

In this qualifying round, the teams will compete in a round robin format. The four teams finishing first and second in the two groups will join the three teams with the highest achievements from the previous season, including Japan, South Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and host Uzbekistan, to compete in the final round, taking place next year.
