U22 Vietnam competes in the group stage of SEA Games 33 around Bangkok

(Dan Tri) - The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) announced that some SEA Games 33 competitions will be moved out of Songkhla, including men's football. U22 Vietnam will compete around Bangkok.

Speaking to Thai media, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Director General Kongsak Yodmanee announced that he would move the competition venues of some sports out of Songkhla province, citing the serious flooding situation in the locality.

The sports that have been relocated include boxing, muay thai and group B of the men's football event. This group includes the U22 teams of Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia.

Thailand's The Nation newspaper reported: "Mr. Kongsak Yodmanee said the men's football matches were originally scheduled to be held at Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla, starting on December 4. Tinsulanon Stadium is not currently flooded, but the roads leading to the stadium are heavily flooded."

“Therefore, the venue for the men's football group B will be moved to one of two stadiums: Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, or Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani (about 40km from Bangkok),” The Nation newspaper reported on the statement of SAT Director General Kongsak Yodmanee.

Rajamangala and Thammasat Stadiums are the stadiums where the Vietnamese team played the second leg finals of the two most recent AFF Cups.

In the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final (kick-off on January 5 this year), the Vietnamese team beat the Thai team 3-2 at Rajamangala Stadium, with a final score of 5-3 after two home and away matches.

In the second leg of the AFF Cup 2022 final (the ball rolls in early 2023), the Vietnamese team lost to the Thai team 0-1 at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, and in the end we lost 2-3 after two home and away matches.

Currently, U22 Vietnam is gathering in Ba Ria (HCMC). According to the plan, the team will stay here until November 29. On November 30, the team will move to the central area of ​​HCMC, then leave for Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games.

On December 4, coach Kim Sang Sik's team will have their first match in Group B of men's football, against the Laos U22 team.
