AI applications in physical therapy

(Dan Tri) - Artificial Intelligence (AI) has opened a new era in the medical industry, applied in many different fields. For the first time, AI technology has been applied to maximize the fastest recovery for patients.

Mr. Tran Van Dan, President of the Vietnam Physiotherapy Association, said that physiotherapy intervenes in all stages of health from disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation... For example, exercise to prevent scoliosis in school-age children, prevent cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, high blood fat, prevent falls in old age...

Non-drug treatment is the use of physical methods in musculoskeletal and neurological diseases... such as: Herniated disc, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, frozen shoulder, sports injuries... For example, for diseases of office workers, physical therapy is very effective.

According to Mr. Dan, physical therapy also includes rehabilitation for people with disabilities such as stroke, spinal cord injury, paralysis, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, flat feet, Parkinson's...

In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) is also increasingly applied in the health sector. In the field of physical therapy, for the first time, AI technology is also applied to maximize the fastest recovery for patients. These include laser therapy, magnetic therapy, radio wave therapy, etc.

The information was shared by experts at the 2025 Global Physiotherapy Conference recently held in Tokyo (Japan). The conference is held every two years and rotates between continents. Vietnam officially joined this global physiotherapy organization from 2023 in Dubai after being officially admitted to the World Federation of Physiotherapy in 2021.

More than 130 countries and territories participated in this conference with more than 4,000 scientific reports from the world's leading scientists. Of which, there were 11 scientific reports from the Vietnam Association (including members studying and doing research abroad).

This is the first time Vietnam has attended the world’s largest physiotherapy conference with the largest number of delegates and reports ever. The conference also opens up many opportunities for cooperation to catch up with leading countries in the region and the world.
