This sign is located in Phieng Phung village, Bang Phuc commune, actually facing Bac Kan city but only leading 2km to Ba Be lake, which is wrong.

According to the records, a series of signs on the route have incorrect content such as: Wrong place names, wrong directions, even wrong distances. Specifically, some signs say "Ba Be Lake 39km" at Km 12 in Don Phong commune but the actual distance is about 20km; there are signs pointing towards Bac Kan city but are installed in the opposite direction to Ba Be Lake; even some place names such as "Ban Gieng" are misspelled as "Ban Rieng".

This sign points towards Bac Kan city in Bang Phuc commune but only points towards Ba Be lake, only 300m away.

This situation not only causes difficulties for traffic participants, especially tourists who are not familiar with the road, but also affects the image of a key investment route, expected to become a tourist axis connecting Ba Be Lake area, a national natural heritage.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien from Hai Phong , traveling with a working group on this route for the first time, was quite confused when finding the way to Ba Be Lake because the signboard information was incorrect compared to Google Map. She had to pick up the phone and call an acquaintance in Bac Kan city for further directions.

Regarding the above reflection, Mr. Nguyen Manh Truong, Deputy Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board of Bac Kan province confirmed that the contractor for the sign system is Thanh Linh Company Limited. Up to now, the entire project has not been officially accepted and handed over to the investor.

The sign indicating direction to Ba Be Lake and Bac Kan city should be placed on the right side of the road but is placed on the left side.

“The contract requires completion before June 30, 2025. Therefore, the responsibility for adjusting and correcting incorrect content belongs to the construction unit. In response to the press's reflection, we will conduct an inspection and review of the entire system of signs and traffic signs on the route and require the construction unit to correct and replace them according to the design, ensuring accuracy of information and aesthetics,” Mr. Truong committed.

Even a small mistake in placing signs can have serious consequences in actual use, especially on routes with increasing traffic volume. Traffic experts say that signs not only need to be technically correct, but also need to be absolutely accurate in terms of geography, language and direction, to avoid leaving an unprofessional impression in the eyes of residents and tourists.

The signboard misspelled the place name Ban Gieng as Ban Rieng.

The Bac Kan City – Ba Be Lake road project connecting to Na Hang (Tuyen Quang) is an important component to develop the infrastructure of Ba Be Lake area, serving the connection, tourism development and economy of the lake area. Ensuring the quality of the project, including the signage system, is a mandatory requirement for the project to be effective after being officially put into operation.

Locals and tourists hope that the sign system will be repaired soon, so that this vital route can be effectively promoted, serving well the tourism and socio-economic development of the region./.
