The rollout of ChatGPT to Google Play comes two months after the chatbot became available on iOS in May, marking the first time the super AI has had an app for mobile devices. When announced late last year, ChatGPT was only available on a website.
ChatGPT became a global sensation in late November 2022, gaining over one million users in just one week and surpassing 100 million after two months, according to Similarweb. This AI attracts 1.5 billion visits per month, sparking a global race for AI generation.
However, the ChatGPT craze is reportedly fading as user numbers have slowed. Website traffic to ChatGPT, both on computers and mobile devices, decreased by 9.7% in June compared to May. This also marks the first time the chart has declined after six months of continuous growth.
Despite its decline, ChatGPT remains the most popular AI tool. According to Similarweb expert David F. Carr, the decline of AI generation tools shows that the appeal of novelty in conversations has faded. "From now on, chatbots will have to prove their real value, rather than assuming they will be recognized automatically," Carr assessed.
