On the afternoon of August 24, all boats of fishermen in Tan Mai and Quynh Mai wards were brought to the anchorage area, sheltered and safe at Lach Con. Preparing to respond to storm No. 5, fishermen here have been actively tying their boats to minimize risks. Fishing nets and gear on the boats are also tied tightly to avoid being swept away by the storm.
Mr. Truong Cong Linh - owner of NA 93694 TS boat, in Quynh Mai ward said: Hearing the information from the Coastal Radio Station, as well as from the local news, we heard about storm No. 5 so we sailed from the fishing grounds, running for 15 hours to take shelter. When we arrived at the anchorage, we were asked by the local authorities to implement solutions to ensure the safety of the boat, boat and people.

Mr. Phan Van Canh - a fisherman in Tan Mai ward said: The whole ward currently has 351 ships and boats. Through the investigation, we know that all ships and boats have returned safely. That is a very happy thing. Following the instructions, we have arranged large ships to park outside, small ships in suitable positions to avoid collision, minimizing collision, fire, and explosion when the storm hits.
Similarly, at Lach Quen, 901 boats of fishermen in Quynh Phu commune were also brought in to take shelter, anchor and ensure safety for both people and vehicles; urgently tied ropes, covered with tarpaulins, and reinforced the hulls of the boats to avoid waves and wind. The Border Guard and local authorities have made great efforts to propagate and advise people not to stay on the boats during the storm because it is very dangerous.

Information from the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense: In Nghe An province, there are 2,918 ships and boats with 13,240 workers directly fishing, of which 2,915 ships and boats have taken shelter in safe places in the canals and fishing ports in the province. The remaining 3 ships and boats have also taken shelter in the waters of Dak Lak province.
Implement the plan to relocate people
Faced with the complex and unpredictable developments of storm No. 5, at this time, coastal communes of Nghe An province have been implementing plans to evacuate and relocate people in dangerous areas to safe shelters.
Comrade Dam Huu Hong - Secretary of Tan Mai Ward Party Committee said: The ward has proactively implemented solutions to respond to, prevent and combat storm No. 5 according to the direction of the province. Specifically, the police, military , border guards and youth forces have been arranged to deploy technical solutions to reinforce vulnerable points at risk of flooding.

Along with that, Tan Mai ward has developed a specific plan to evacuate and relocate people. In the event of a sea level rise of 1-2m, the ward will evacuate 104 households with 406 people to nearby households with solid 2-3 storey houses. In the event of a sea level rise of 3-4m, the ward will evacuate 621 households with 2,766 people to schools, Party Committee headquarters, People's Committee and Ward Police. The ward has also established a logistics subcommittee to ensure the needs of people during the shelter period.

Similarly, comrade Ho Van Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Phu commune said: In response to storm No. 5, the commune has developed a scenario to evacuate and relocate 521 households, with more than 1,800 people. Starting from the afternoon of August 24, the commune has implemented the evacuation plan, bringing people to solid houses in the area. The commune is also continuing to bring people to cultural houses in villages and hamlets. Logistics work has also been calculated and fully prepared./.
