On the morning of August 30, the tropical depression in the northwest sea of the North East Sea strengthened into storm No. 6 (Nongfa).
At 7am, the storm's eye was in the Ha Tinh - Hue sea area, about 210km east of northern Quang Tri. The strongest wind near the storm's eye was level 8 (62-74km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm moved west-northwest at a speed of about 20km/h.
It is forecasted that by 7 p.m. on August 30, the storm will make landfall in Ha Tinh and northern Quang Tri, weakening into a tropical depression with winds of level 7 and gusts of level 9. The storm is likely to cause strong winds, rising sea levels, thunderstorms and tornadoes on land, and rainfall of 100-200 mm, with some places over 230 mm, causing localized flooding. Disaster risk level 3.
From last night to the morning of August 30, Quang Tri province has had moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain. At 9am this morning, the Hieu River rose and overflowed some roads, causing flooding in Cam Lo and Cam Hieu Giang communes, making travel difficult. The water levels of other rivers in the province are changing slowly and are at alert level 1.
Currently, reservoirs in the province are operating safely. The average capacity of 52 medium and large reservoirs is about 63.12% of the design capacity.
Regarding boats, as of 5am on August 30, the whole province has 194 vehicles/608 workers operating at sea. All boats and ships operating at sea have grasped information on the storm's developments and path to proactively take shelter.

Directing the response to storm No. 6 and floods, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong requested the Provincial Civil Defense Command, departments, branches and units to continue implementing storm response plans, with the goal of ensuring the safety and lives and property of the people.
Urgently call on ships to take shelter in safe places and ensure safety at the anchorage area. Proactively check and evacuate people from unsafe areas, especially in weak houses, low-lying residential areas, areas at high risk of landslides, along rivers, areas affected by big waves, floods, flash floods, landslides.
At the same time, units ensure the safety of irrigation works and dams. There are plans to ensure safety for the organization of cultural activities and festivals in the province. Functional forces, agencies and units proactively arrange forces and means, especially means for rescue and relief when bad situations occur; proactively implement the "four on-site" motto to respond to storms.
Previously, on August 29, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued a telegram on proactively responding to the tropical depression in the East Sea and widespread heavy rain. The telegram stated that Quang Tri province had just been affected by storm No. 5 with heavy rain, the land was basically saturated with water and it was right on the occasion of organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day and preparing for the new school year, so it was necessary to prepare carefully, absolutely not to be subjective or negligent.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to organize a review and careful inspection of areas at risk of flooding, inundation and landslides when heavy rain occurs, especially in mountainous areas, along rivers and streams, urban areas, low-lying residential areas, areas under planning for mineral exploitation, and unfinished construction works (dams, dikes, etc.).
Please note that in recent days there has been heavy rain, the ground has been saturated with water, the risk of landslides and flash floods has increased; therefore, localities need to be especially vigilant, prepare response plans, organize the relocation and evacuation of people from dangerous areas in a timely manner, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
The People's Committee of Con Co Special Zone and localities with tourist attractions must provide timely information and take measures to ensure safety for tourists; and prepare plans for evacuation when necessary.
