V-League changes schedule, many players gather late

On August 26, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) announced the postponement of the match between The Cong - Viettel and Becamex TP.HCM in round 3 of V-League, from 7:15 p.m. on August 29 to 7:15 p.m. on August 30 at Hang Day Stadium.

The reason for the change of schedule proposed by The Cong - Viettel is related to the local plan to restrict and prohibit roads to serve the rehearsal for the parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (A80). The remaining matches of this round will still take place according to the scheduled schedule, but also depend on the storm situation in the localities.

The above schedule change by VPF does not affect the progress and quality of V-League, but will cause many national and U23 players to gather late (the gathering schedule is after August 29).

The Cong - Viettel Club contributed 3 players to U23 Vietnam including Nguyen Cong Phuong, Khuat Van Khang, Dang Tuan Phong and 3 players to the Vietnam national team including Nguyen Van Viet, Truong Tien Anh and Phan Tuan Tai.

Meanwhile, Becamex TP.HCM only has 1 player called up to the Vietnam national team, Vo Hoang Minh Khoa.

The September training session of U23 Vietnam and the Vietnam national team takes place right after round 3 of V-League 2025 - 2026.

U23 Vietnam only has 4 days at most to prepare for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers. The Vietnamese team will only play friendly matches domestically with clubs to review and select players for the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers taking place in October.
