Mourinho lost to Van Persie.

Feyenoord took the advantage in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie by beating Fenerbahce 2-1 thanks to an injury-time winner from Anis Hadj Moussa.

This victory helps the Dutch representative move closer to the League Phase Champions League 2025/26, while pushing Fenerbahce into a position of having to fight to end a 17-year absence from Europe's most prestigious playground.

With the home crowd cheering them on, Robin van Persie's men started the game with enthusiasm and took the lead after 20 minutes, thanks to a brilliant strike from Quinten Timber. Feyenoord continued to maintain the pressure, while Jose Mourinho's side looked sluggish and disjointed.

However, Fenerbahce gradually regained control of the game towards the end of the first half and created a number of dangerous chances. In the second half, the Turkish team showed a better side, especially after Mourinho brought on Jhon Duran. However, their efforts were only rewarded when Sofyan Amrabat unleashed a powerful shot to equalize in the 86th minute.

When it seemed like the match would end in a draw, Hadj Moussa appeared at the right time with an accurate header from Jordan Bos' pass, bringing a thrilling victory to Feyenoord in the 90+1 minute.

The second leg takes place on August 13. Mourinho and his team must win by 2 goals or more to avoid being eliminated from the Champions League qualifying round for the second consecutive season.
