According to the images shared by central defender Le Van Ha on his personal page, the condition of midfielder Nguyen Van Truong has made many fans worried. The player of the U22 Vietnam team had to sit in a wheelchair, his right leg was bandaged and he was almost unable to move after the injury he suffered in the match with U22 Korea on the afternoon of November 18.
Earlier, in the 68th minute, Van Truong collided strongly with an opposing player and immediately lay on the field in pain. He was taken off by the medical team on a stretcher and then transferred straight to the hospital for detailed examination.
The initial diagnosis showed that Van Truong had a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear in his knee. It is known that the doctors determined that this case does not require surgery, and he can practice rehabilitation according to his own regimen. However, an immediate return is not possible. Van Truong and his teammates will return to Vietnam for further in-depth examinations, before entering the recovery treatment phase.
With this injury, the midfielder born in 2003 will certainly not be able to recover in time to participate in the 33rd SEA Games, a tournament that U22 Vietnam has high expectations for and will take place in early December. This is a big loss for coach Kim Sang-sik, because Van Truong is one of the faces highly appreciated for his creativity and technical foundation in the midfield.
In this friendly tournament, U22 Vietnam finished at the bottom of the table, after 1 win and 2 losses. Although the result was not as expected, the team's performance was still viewed positively, as the tournament was mainly to test the squad and evaluate the players' abilities. The experiences gained will be an important stepping stone for the journey towards the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
