- Just a few months ago, Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy shared that he was resting and not accepting any more films after 'Thuong ngay nang ve' but now he suddenly participated in the film 'Cuoc doi van dep sao'. What is the reason, madam?

Because I was bored and at the same time found the script strange. Actually, I have long wanted to act in a film about people in poverty to find sympathy and share with them.

- Watching some excerpts, I found the role of Mrs. Tinh to be too heavy and a role that makes the actress suffer....

Even the production lady told me to let her call to see if I had any toxic money (laughs) because the environment was dark, humid, with lots of mosquitoes and rats running around like a parade.

- Rarely appearing at events, who convinced Thanh Quy to come to the press conference to launch the movie 'Is Life Still Beautiful'?

This is my first time attending a press conference for a film. The reason I came this time is because I thought I did something wrong and had to make it right (laughs). The last few times I had personal matters and was also sick so I couldn't come.

- You said you wanted to play miserable roles like this one to share with those in similar situations, but in reality, when you were in the movie, was there ever a time when the conditions were too difficult that made you give up?

When I accepted these films, I had already determined it. But when I came to live in such a poor boarding house, witnessing the people passing by before me, I thought that no matter how much I did, I still wouldn’t be able to highlight all of these lives. I just knew that I would have to try to do better.

As an actor, I have no higher demands, I just want to share the hardships, difficulties, and storms of life. I have to thank VFC and director Danh Dung for making me satisfied. I hope the audience will love and sympathize with the crew who tried their best.

- Suppose if the role did not have such a fate but was a character with a luxurious lifestyle, would it not have been possible to bring Thanh Quy back to the film set?

Actually, even when playing happy roles, those characters also have their own worries, otherwise there would be nothing to watch.

- Is this your hardest role ever?

The most miserable? I haven’t had a chance to compare (laughs out loud) but it is really miserable. You can see the first images of Mrs. Tinh in Life is Still Beautiful, looking disheveled and miserable, selling goods on the street in the market. As you continue watching the film, you will see the pain and tragedy that this woman has to endure and overcome.

- The first time you saw your images in the movie, were you satisfied with your appearance and acting?

I told the director that I looked so fat, I wondered if I could convince the audience to play the role of a woman from the countryside who had to go to the city to make a living. Director Danh Dung said the key was the story inside, so he believed it would make the audience forget my appearance. In addition, the makeup artist did a great job, so from the day filming started, someone in the crew exclaimed, "Why do I look so miserable, I look so disheveled that I can't recognize you, so I was happy."

In 'Life is still beautiful', mother Nga of 'Love the sunny days' plays the role of Mrs. Tinh - a hard-working woman who loves her daughter-in-law like her own daughter.

- Did you ever wear the full costume and hair and makeup when you went home? What did your daughter say when she saw you like that?

My daughter said: Mom looks so scary, so scary, why is she so dark? I answered her: Well, Mom plays the role of working hard on the street to make a living, she can't stay at home, so she has to make herself black.

- Did your daughter remind you when she knew that you were playing a difficult role in a difficult situation at this age, and also had health problems?

She also asked and bought medicine for my mother. I said: Don't worry, I don't see any problem, it's just that I stay up late and wake up early when I go to work. But when I go to work, I sleep better.

Every day, my makeup artist sprayed silver hairspray all over my head. Some days I could wash my hair and go to bed. Some days I was so tired that I left my hair like that, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and went to bed. The next morning, I went to filming early. I told my makeup artist: I saved up for you. I didn't wash my hair yesterday, so you don't have to spray silver hairspray so much (laughs).
