According to VNA reporters, by the morning of November 24, the weather had cleared and the water had receded in many communes and wards of Dak Lak. Local authorities mobilized military and police forces to coordinate with schools to focus on cleaning up and overcoming the consequences of the flood.

In Tuy Hoa ward, both campuses of Trung Vuong Primary School were flooded in the recent flood. Ms. Dang Thi Thanh, the school’s principal, said that the school has 80 staff members, teachers, and employees, but most of them have houses located in heavily flooded areas.

On November 21, when the water began to recede, 10 staff and teachers who were not in the flooded area quickly arrived at the school to clean up the school and classrooms. Up to now, the cleaning work has been basically completed, but the school needs to carefully check the electricity, water, fences, walls, disinfect... to ensure 100% safety before welcoming students back to school.

Dong Hoa Ward was also severely damaged in the recent historic flood, with about 90% of houses flooded. According to Mr. Huynh My Phong, Chairman of Dong Hoa Ward People's Committee, the post-flood recovery work is receiving special attention from the locality. The ward has stepped up efforts to overcome the consequences of natural disasters; assigned the police, military forces at higher levels and local forces to actively coordinate to clean up schools, medical facilities, public areas and support people to soon stabilize their lives.

Tran Quoc Toan Primary School (Ward 4, Dong Hoa Ward) has been submerged in floodwaters of 2-2.5m in recent days. The rain combined with strong winds caused the front and side walls to collapse. Tables, chairs, equipment, books, teaching equipment, library... were buried in mud and completely damaged. Ms. Tran Le Phuong Nhi, a teacher at the school, said that immediately after the water receded, all teachers cooperated with the army to scrape mud, clean up... with the hope of bringing students back to school soon.

The flood caused heavy damage to Le Trung Kien High School in Ward 3, Dong Hoa Ward. Mr. Le Tan Dung, Principal of the school, said that the rain and flood caused the school to be flooded for nearly 2 days. The fence system, foundation, school yard, etc. were severely damaged, and the full damage cannot be fully estimated yet. The school and local forces are actively cleaning up the school yard and classrooms to quickly restore teaching and learning. In the long term, the school hopes to receive support to repair the damage.

The students' time off is up to a week. After returning to normal teaching and learning, the school will try to organize make-up classes to ensure that students keep up with the program progress, especially grade 12 students, to help them have enough knowledge to participate in the 2026 High School Graduation Exam, Mr. Dung informed.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, as of November 23, the whole province had 481/1,379 educational establishments that allowed students to stay home from school in recent days. Floods caused 372/1,379 educational establishments to be submerged in water, many classrooms and teaching equipment were damaged... The entire education sector estimated the damage at nearly 29 billion VND.

On the morning of November 24, it is expected that about 191 educational institutions will organize for students to return to school after the flood. Based on the actual situation at the unit (extent of damage, conditions of facilities, traffic, school hygiene, etc.), heads of educational institutions will decide the time to welcome children, pupils and students back to school. Units must absolutely not let students return to school when safety is not guaranteed; at the same time, report the damage situation and propose to the direct management unit for support.

Dak Lak Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet also requested all levels and sectors to mobilize maximum resources and enter the flood recovery phase with the highest sense of responsibility. The recovery is required to be implemented according to the motto "where the water recedes, there will be recovery". Units need to mobilize all forces to repair and clean schools, creating conditions for students to return to school as soon as possible.
