According to reliable sources from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Game of Thrones fans won't have to wait long to see the series adapted to the big screen, as at least one film in the franchise is in development.

In the past, the novel's "father" George RR Martin and two producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss had the idea of making potential spin-off films of this universe.
Accordingly, in 2014, Martin revealed that the two producers Benioff and Weiss wanted to end the work with a trilogy of movies instead of a final season of the series, but Warner Bros Discovery strongly opposed this idea.
However, a recent change in the studio's leadership may have turned that decision around. The series, once a fixture at HBO, is now greenlit once again.
In addition, the increasing success in adapting films from television and vice versa is also considered a reason for this decision. For example, Matt Reeves' blockbuster The Batman when adapted into a long-running series on HBO has created extremely impressive achievements.
Max's upcoming TV series Dune: Prophecy, a sequel to Denis Villeneuve's successful Sand Planet , is another reason. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings ... are also in the works, indicating that this is an inevitable trend in the near future.
Sources say the project is still in the works and is in the early stages of development. No filmmakers, actors, or writers have been confirmed yet.
Speaking of Game of Thrones specifically, HBO launched the hit prequel series House of the Dragon in 2022. It has already aired its second season. The network also has an upcoming prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms scheduled to air in 2025. There are also reportedly other ideas in development.
