VFF was a bit surprised when Mr. Park suggested that some training sessions from now until the end of the year for the U.23 Vietnam team would only last a few days, or even less than a week. Because with such limited time, how could the team be assembled and tactics practiced? Mr. Park explained that out of the 7 training sessions, 4 would only last 4 days (including 2 sessions in July, 2 sessions in August).
The 5th round in September will last 9 days, the 6th round will be extended to 24 days and the final round in November will only last 20 days but is considered the most important because it will gather the strongest personnel, including players in the U.22 age group and 2 players over U.22 as stipulated in the SEA Games men's football regulations. In this final round, the team will play 2 matches at the BTV Cup friendly tournament at Binh Duong Stadium (November 3 and 6) and Mr. Park will finalize the preliminary list for the 30th SEA Games.

Mr. Park added that in the first 4 training sessions, the U.23 Vietnam team will try to discover a few new players (for each session). For example, in the first training session from the morning of July 8 to July 11, out of 18 players, there are 5 new faces including 3 defenders Nguyen Van Dat (Hong Linh Ha Tinh), Nguyen Ba Duc (SLNA), Nguyen Khac Vu ( Long An ); 2 strikers Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong (Becamex Binh Duong), Nguyen Sy Tu (Phu Dong).
Mr. Park wanted to call up some players who are in good form like Bui Hoang Viet Anh, but the Ha Tinh midfielder was not allowed by the club to join the U.23 team this time. The only national player present at the first training session was striker Nguyen Tien Linh.

Mr. Park emphasized that he has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of clubs competing in the V-League or the first division because the teams all set different goals in the tournaments they participate in. If the VFF uses strong measures, the interests of the teams will be seriously affected and cause conflicts between the parties. That is what Mr. Park does not want. He said that if he requested to immediately summon outstanding players such as Quang Hai, Van Hau, Thanh Chung... the clubs would not agree.
The players who are wearing the U.23 team jersey for the first time as mentioned above, Mr. Park has only been reported by his colleagues but has not directly met or discussed with them. He wants to personally test their quality through training sessions and in a practice match with a V-League club (in the first 4 short training sessions, the competition is with a domestic team such as U.18 Vietnam or a team currently playing in the V-League). With the remaining players who were called up to the national team in the recent match against U.23 Myanmar, he also needs to review their ability and performance.

One thing worth noting, according to a VFF official, is that Mr. Park also wants to solve the psychological problem for the players. It sounds strange, because this is not a stressful period, so why should we immediately care about the psychological problem? Mr. Park explained that many players were called up to the U.23 Vietnam team but were only on the bench at clubs in the V-League or first division. “The fact that these players rarely play as starters can make them feel uncomfortable, causing depression and frustration. If left for a long time and not resolved immediately, it will be very harmful. Therefore, in addition to letting them approach my playing style, I really hope to “kick” heavy thoughts out of their heads. Only then will the players absorb well what I teach,” Mr. Park said.
