Speaking at the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Postal Economics, Dr. Tran Dinh Nam, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute, said that the Institute was established with the important mission of researching strategies, advising on policies, developing infrastructure and human resources for the postal and telecommunications industry.

Starting as a research unit under the General Department of Posts and Telecommunications, then under the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, and now a member of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, the Institute has constantly innovated, adapted and developed, affirming its role as a leading research organization in postal and telecommunications economics , serving the postal and telecommunications industry as well as the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

In 2012, the Institute expanded to full-time university training and from 2021, the university system of work and study, gradually forming an integrated model of research - training and technology transfer.

Dr. Tran Dinh Nam informed that in the coming time, the Postal Economics Institute will identify 4 important orientations.

Specifically, develop the research team and lecturers in an in-depth direction, increase the proportion of PhDs to at least 60% by 2028 and 70% by 2030. Develop more majors and training programs, focusing on digital economy and developing innovation capacity, interdisciplinary training programs combining economics with industry, journalism economics, meeting integration needs.

In addition, strengthen research on new economic models based on digital technology platforms, build emerging economic model laboratories, research results to propose new technological problems, new technological products, new solutions for start-up groups, as well as cadres, students, and trainees to implement.

Promote technology transfer activities, commercialize scientific and technological products, provide consulting support for businesses and localities in building brands, provide consulting and training in ESG reporting, provide consulting and support in building technical and economic norms, and promote startups.

On May 28, 1975, the Director General of the General Department of Posts issued a decision to establish the Institute of Postal Economics and Planning, which was renamed the Institute of Postal Economics on December 20, 1979. In 2014, the Institute of Postal Economics became a scientific research and training unit under the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.
