The Michelin Guide also awarded Bib Gourmand certification (an examiner-recommended list of quality dishes at affordable prices) to 29 restaurants.

The Michelin Guide Special Awards category includes the following awards: Sommelier Award awarded to Mr. Yu Yamamoto, Lua Restaurant; Service Award awarded to chef Nguyen Thi Nu, Vietnam House Restaurant; Young Chef Award awarded to chef Sam Tran, Gia Restaurant.

Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guide shared his joy and pride in completing the list of the first Michelin Guide-certified restaurants in Vietnam. This list clearly reflects the differences and richness of cuisine in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“The capital city of Hanoi exudes a laid-back and laid-back vibe, with small shops and restaurants dotted throughout the Old Quarter. The city is a melting pot of the Northern flavours of traditional Vietnamese cuisine, emphasizing natural freshness, seasoned with a variety of spices and herbs to create a unique combination for each dish,” said Gwendal Poullennec.

According to Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant and fast-growing city, which always offers visitors a unique source of energy with a diverse culinary scene.

“Modern and traditional cooking techniques are clearly demonstrated. We also see a great combination of experienced chefs and young local chefs through the ideas and creativity expressed through the dishes,” he said.

Michelin representatives emphasized that there are 5 criteria to evaluate restaurants, including product quality, cooking skills, flavor harmony, the chef's personality expressed through the dishes, and the consistency of the dishes over time and across the entire menu.

How can a restaurant or chef be “replaced” if they cannot maintain their form? The people who evaluate restaurants are Michelin reviewers. Their identities must remain anonymous to ensure maximum objectivity.

One Michelin star indicates that the restaurant has “high quality food, worthy of diners stopping to enjoy.” Two Michelin stars indicate that the restaurant has “excellent quality food, worthy of diners coming back to enjoy.” Three Michelin stars indicate that the restaurant has “excellent quality food, worthy of diners planning to come and enjoy in person”./.
