On November 29, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly held a discussion on the Palestine issue under the annual topic on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly for over 70 years.
According to a VNA correspondent at the United Nations, in the context of the escalating conflict in Gaza over the past month, President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis and other countries expressed deep concern over the recent violence, casualties and losses in the Gaza Strip, and called for an end to violence and conflict, a return to dialogue, and the search for a lasting and comprehensive peaceful solution through a two-state solution, based on UN resolutions.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, also expressed deep concern over attacks targeting civilians, humanitarian workers, infrastructure and essential civil services.
Vietnam calls on all parties to immediately cease fire, exercise maximum restraint, respect international humanitarian law and take all necessary measures to protect civilian lives, including ensuring safety and immediately releasing hostages.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Vietnam's steadfast stance on resolving the Hamas-Israel conflict by peaceful means on the basis of respecting international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, ensuring the legitimate interests of the parties involved, and implementing the two-state solution.
This process requires strong commitment from the international community, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (November 29), the Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always supports the just struggle of the Palestinian people for independence and freedom.
Vietnam is ready to join the efforts of the United Nations and the international community to promote dialogue and seek a peaceful, long-term and sustainable solution to the current conflict.

On the morning of November 29, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang met and handed over to UN Secretary-General António Guterres a letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , emphasizing that Vietnam highly appreciates the important role and contributions of UN agencies, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The Vietnamese government will contribute 500,000 USD to this agency to support the United Nations' efforts and show solidarity with the Palestinian people./.
