Vietnam, Russia sign memorandum of understanding on cooperation in industrial development

On November 20, the 14th meeting of the Subcommittee on Industrial Cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Intergovernmental Committee took place in Hanoi .

Attending the meeting on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam were Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai and leaders of functional units. The delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation was led by Deputy Minister Alexey Vladimirovich Gruzdev.

This meeting is within the framework of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic -Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation. This is an important cooperation mechanism, playing a key role in promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai said that within the framework of the Intergovernmental Committee, industrial cooperation contents are extremely important, playing a key role in promoting comprehensive cooperation, especially in the economic field, between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai hopes that the 14th Meeting of the Subcommittee on Industrial Cooperation will reach many important agreements in the fields of transport vehicle manufacturing, railway industry, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, mining, chemicals, metallurgy, etc. This will be a positive premise for the success of the 26th Meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Vladimirovich Gruzdev said that this meeting will propose directions for cooperation between the two sides in the industrial field.

According to Deputy Minister Alexey Vladimirovich Gruzdev, the industrial sector plays a very important role in the comprehensive cooperation between the Russian Federation and Vietnam as industrial products account for 60% of bilateral trade turnover.

At the meeting, the two sides focused on discussing the results of cooperation in the past time and directions for promoting cooperation in the industrial sector in the coming time.

At the end of the Subcommittee meeting, Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai and Deputy Minister Alexey Vladimirovich Gruzdev, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Russian Federation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Ministries of Industry and Trade on cooperation in scientific research, technology development and innovation in the industrial sector, with a term of 5 years from the date of signing.

The cooperation contents include the automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, new energy industry, heavy engineering and construction materials industries. During the cooperation process, the two sides will strive to achieve the goals set out in the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Master Plan until 2030.
