Statistics released by Yeogi Eottae on May 2 showed that as of the end of April, the number of bookings in two Southeast Asian countries, the Philippines and Vietnam, were leading, and Southeast Asian countries emerged as popular tourist destinations. Meanwhile, the number of bookings in Japan only increased 2.1 times compared to the same period last year.
In the Philippines, this year's summer vacation, the number of hotel bookings increased 3.1 times compared to last year, and in Vietnam, this number increased 3 times.
As travel demand focuses on short-distance destinations, ‘lead times’ (the time between booking and check-in) have shortened significantly compared to 2023.
Kim Yong-gyeong, head of the Yeogi Eottae brand, said that normally demand for travel to Japan during the peak season is very high, but looking at the growth rate compared to last year, the increase in demand to Southeast Asian countries is very noticeable.
Meanwhile, the website Rankify Korea has released a trend index ranking of Vietnam's favorite tourist destinations as of the end of April. Accordingly, the capital Hanoi topped the list with 1,788 points, up 50 points from last week; Da Lat ranked second with 1,379 points, down 88 points from last week; Ha Long Bay ranked third with 796 points, down 51 points from last week.
Information shows that currently, Vietnam's favorite tourist destinations are receiving a lot of attention from the Korean public. The trend index is calculated by adding the keyword search volume and Google trend score from the previous week.
