Vietnam, Guangxi strengthen trade and investment cooperation and business connection

On the afternoon of November 26, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Mr. Vi Thao, Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China co-chaired the Conference on Trade Promotion, Investment and Business Connection between Vietnam and China (Guangxi).

According to Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Guangxi has a very important position and role in economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China. The scale of trade between Vietnam and Guangxi always accounts for a large proportion of the two countries' trade. For 25 consecutive years, Vietnam has also been Guangxi's largest trade partner and vice versa, Guangxi has always been one of the Chinese localities with the largest trade turnover with Vietnam.

Many high-quality Vietnamese export products have become familiar to Guangxi consumers and from here are widely distributed to domestic areas, contributing to building the Vietnamese product brand in the Chinese market.

Guangxi Province is also a locality with all types of connections serving economic, trade and industrial exchange activities between the two countries, specifically the "6 routes" including roads, railways, rivers, sea routes, airways and power transmission lines.

Also according to Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, since signing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the economic and trade fields in 2019, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Guangxi Government have closely coordinated, overcome many difficulties, and facilitated cooperation and trade activities.

In addition, the two sides regularly carry out many trade and investment promotion activities, connecting practical trade, opening up effective cooperation opportunities for the business communities of the two countries.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that the Conference on Trade Promotion, Investment and Business Connection between Vietnam and China (Guangxi) is a substantial connecting event to implement the common perception of the leaders of the two Parties and two States in recent times.

With the participation of representatives of associations and more than 200 Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in the fields of AI technology, e-commerce, machinery, production equipment, import and export, agricultural products, processed foods, logistics, construction, investment, etc., the Minister believes that the Conference will continue to create many good opportunities for businesses of both sides to strengthen connections, expand markets, and explore new cooperation potentials.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are committed to continuing to strongly reform administrative procedures, ensuring a public, transparent, and equitable business environment, and protecting the legitimate rights of foreign investors in general and enterprises from Guangxi, China in particular.

Vietnamese localities, especially provinces bordering Guangxi such as Lang Son, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Ha Giang... have been preparing clean land funds, modern industrial park infrastructure and the highest incentive policies to welcome the new wave of investment from Guangxi.

The Vietnamese Government and Ministry of Industry and Trade pledge to continue to accompany and support the business communities of both sides to maximize their cooperation potential, contributing to building a "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" that is increasingly sustainable and brings practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Guangxi continues to promote its role as a gateway for China-Vietnam cooperation

For his part, Mr. Vi Thao - Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region emphasized that this conference took place at a special time when the China - ASEAN Free Trade Agreement 3.0 was just signed, opening up great opportunities for the Vietnam - China border area.

He affirmed that the event is not only a forum for trade promotion, but also an action to concretize the common perception between the senior leaders of the two Parties and the two States. Guangxi will continue to promote its role as a gateway, making a stronger contribution to the strategic cooperation process between China and Vietnam," Mr. Vi Thao affirmed.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the total trade volume between Guangxi and Vietnam reached 255.2 billion yuan, up 8.4% year-on-year. At the same time, Guangxi has opened 34 container shipping routes with Vietnamese ports, improving logistics capacity and cross-border trade. Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trading partner for 26 consecutive years, and the two sides have formed a strategic cooperative relationship, closely linking trade, investment and logistics.

Emphasizing the role of Guangxi as a "window to the South", Mr. Vi Thao said that this region is entering the best development period in history, as it is both a trading center connecting the 1.4 billion Chinese market with nearly 700 million ASEAN people, and a hub for implementing strategic economic corridors.

He said that Guangxi will boost infrastructure investment, promote high-tech cooperation, green trade and digital economy with Vietnam - a close neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner of China.

Meanwhile, Counselor O Quoc Quyen affirmed that over the past two decades, economic and trade relations between the two countries have developed strongly and become increasingly substantive. China has become Vietnam's largest trade partner for more than 20 years, while Vietnam is China's leading trade partner in ASEAN.

According to him, in 2024, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China will exceed 260 billion USD for the first time, accounting for nearly one-third of Vietnam's total import-export turnover. In the first 10 months of 2025, this figure reached 240.7 billion USD, up 13.1% over the same period last year. Along with trade, China is currently one of Vietnam's largest investors, with about 5,000 projects and a total registered capital of over 30 billion USD. In the first 10 months of this year alone, new investment from mainland China and Hong Kong (China) reached 4.59 billion USD, accounting for 32.6% of total new FDI capital, ranking first among 87 countries and territories.

Minister Counselor O Quoc Quyen emphasized that trade and investment are two important pillars that create new momentum for Vietnam-China cooperation. The two countries need to take advantage of their complementary strengths and promote cooperation in the digital economy, green development and innovation. Each successful cooperative enterprise is a bridge for the two countries to strengthen their friendship.

Within the framework of the program, leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region witnessed the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding on cooperation in many key areas such as trade, investment and industry.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 26, in Hanoi, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien held talks with Mr. Vi Thao, Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. At the talks, the two leaders highly agreed on measures to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Guangxi Government to contribute to promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
