Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva.

According to Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, WEF is a special forum because it has the wide participation of leading actors of the world economy, including heads of state, political and economic leaders, policy makers, business leaders, international organizations and leading scholars in the world. Moreover, the goals and vision of WEF go beyond mere economic issues and encompass the development issues of countries. Discussions and exchanges at WEF not only help strengthen and establish economic partnerships but also bring about policy breakthroughs in many important areas, from energy, disease prevention, environment, to climate change, etc.

Ambassador Mai Phan Dung said that with the theme "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age", WEF hopes to find solutions to promote international cooperation, heal economic fragmentation, political polarization, and value system divisions, while taking advantage of unprecedented opportunities that advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology create for growth and development. The conference will focus on five priorities and solutions according to separate topics but closely related to the main theme, including: Reshaping growth, industries in the age of artificial intelligence, investing in people, protecting the Earth, and rebuilding trust. In addition, the WEF Davos 2025 program also focuses on solving immediate problems and shaping long-term strategies, promoting global cooperation, and building a sustainable, smart, and inclusive future.

Ambassador Mai Phan Dung said that the participation of Vietnamese senior leaders in WEF Davos aims to achieve many important strategic goals. Firstly, the conference is an opportunity for Vietnam to establish and strengthen important partnerships... to promote cooperation between the government and the private sector, especially in the fields of technology, green energy and sustainable development. Secondly, WEF Davos is an important forum for Vietnam to introduce investment attraction policies, business opportunities and development potential in key areas, while promoting the image of Vietnam as an attractive destination for international tourism and trade.

Third, attending WEF Davos gives Vietnam the opportunity to learn from international experiences in economics and sustainable development to apply to domestic development policies, better preparing to deal with challenges such as climate change, energy transition, food security and global economic instability. Fourth, the conference is an opportunity for Vietnam to participate in global initiatives on sustainable development, energy transition and digital economy, and demonstrate its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Vietnam can share its vision for development, contribute its views and experiences in areas such as sustainable agricultural development, poverty reduction, health, education and human development. Fifth, Vietnam's participation at the conference helps enhance the country's position and prestige, demonstrating our strong commitment to contributing to global initiatives and solutions, affirming our role as a reliable, active and responsible partner in the international community."

According to Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the WEF Davos 2025 is part of Vietnam's overall foreign policy and international integration, with a consistent policy of actively and proactively integrating into the international economy, becoming a responsible member, contributing to peace, stability and common prosperity of the world. For many years, WEF has invited the Prime Minister of Vietnam to attend the WEF Annual Meeting. This is the second consecutive year that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has attended WEF Davos, demonstrating Vietnam's appreciation and consideration of WEF as a global partner, and is also a clear demonstration of Vietnam's strong commitment to promoting international cooperation.

Ambassador Mai Phan Dung affirmed that Vietnam's policy in international cooperation is oriented on the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of international relations for peace, cooperation and development, ready to be a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community. On the basis of this policy, fully aware of the role of international cooperation and multilateralism, Vietnam has so far actively and comprehensively integrated into all aspects of international life, from security, politics to culture, economy, society... Vietnam actively participates in international and regional cooperation frameworks, including more than 70 international organizations, and is a member of global multilateral organizations. In addition, Vietnam also undertakes many important international responsibilities, promoting an active role in many important multilateral organizations and forums to solve global issues. It can be said that through international integration, Vietnam has had access to valuable capital, knowledge and technology, thereby supporting the country in its efforts to rebuild and develop comprehensively after decades of war. From a poor, backward, low-level, besieged and embargoed country, Vietnam has become a developing country with average income, in the group of 40 countries with the largest economies in the world and the top 20 economies in terms of trade and foreign investment attraction. People's lives have improved significantly, the poverty rate has decreased sharply, and many Millennium Development Goals have been achieved early.

Vietnam's participation in international integration not only promotes national interests but also promotes dual responsibility, contributing to solving global issues on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country. By continuously participating in important forums, Vietnam has gradually affirmed its role as an active country, ready to contribute to global initiatives. Now, not only learning from the international community, but Vietnam also shares its experiences in sustainable development, poverty reduction and climate change adaptation, demonstrating a proactive and responsible role with the international community. Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration over the past half century are an attractive success story. Participating and cooperating at major forums also helps Vietnam promote the image of a stable, dynamic country, ready to cooperate internationally, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's image and reputation in the international arena./.
