On the occasion of International Women's Day, March 8, Plan International Vietnam shared Vietnam's outstanding results in the Girls' Leadership Index 2024 (GLI 2024).
The report was conducted by Plan International Asia- Pacific , using secondary data synthesis and analysis from reliable data sources globally.
This report measures the leadership development opportunities of women and girls in 33 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, based on seven important areas such as education, economy , health, protection, voice and participation, law and policy, and climate action.

The GLI 2024 results show that Vietnam continues to affirm its pioneering role in the region by achieving high results, recording strong and steady progress in many key areas.
Specifically, Vietnam is one of three countries achieving a perfect score (1.0) in the Law and Policy index, reflecting an advanced legal policy system that comprehensively protects and promotes the rights of women and girls.
Vietnam ranked second in the region (after Singapore) in the Voice and Participation index, reflecting the growing presence of women in legislative and executive bodies.
Specifically, Vietnam has the highest proportion of female National Assembly deputies in the Asia -Pacific region at 30.26%, according to results released at the Asia-Pacific Regional Ministerial Conference in November 2024.
Vietnam maintains positive and stable results in the Health Index thanks to investments in reproductive health care, nutrition and mental well-being for women and girls.
In the Protection Index, Vietnam has made significant progress in preventing gender-based violence. Domestic violence rates are expected to decrease by 20% by 2024 (according to the Ministry of Public Security), demonstrating the effectiveness of prevention and victim support programs.
Vietnam recorded the highest increase in score, leading the region in the Climate Action Index, with a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9% by 2030 and promote renewable energy projects to ensure a green, sustainable future.
According to Plan International Vietnam, these results are clear evidence of Vietnam's continuous efforts in promoting gender equality, creating conditions for women and girls to maximize their potential.
