Cooperation in the fields of security, defense, agriculture, labor, climate change response, etc. has been increasingly expanded, bringing practical benefits to both sides.
Vietnam highly appreciates and sincerely thanks the New Zealand Government for its ODA support to Vietnam, thereby making an important contribution to socio-economic development, most recently the ODA worth 6.24 million New Zealand dollars for the agricultural sector for the "High-quality fruit tree variety development project" (VietFruit).
In recent years, people-to-people exchanges between the two countries have become increasingly vibrant, contributing to increasing warm feelings, cultural interweaving and solidarity. Educational cooperation is a highlight of bilateral relations.
More than 600 Vietnamese resource officers have been trained in English and professional skills in New Zealand since 1992. Currently, New Zealand is becoming a favorite study abroad destination for Vietnamese students.
On the international front, Vietnam and New Zealand always support each other, share a vision of peace and sustainable development, and are committed to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Asia-Pacific region.
On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, Minister Nguyen Kim Son expressed his sincere thanks to generations of leaders and people of the two countries who have contributed to nurturing the Vietnam - New Zealand friendship over the past 50 years.
"I believe that, with the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, the two countries will together write new chapters for the Vietnam - New Zealand relationship, more comprehensive and profound, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries as well as effectively contributing to building a stable, peaceful Asia - Pacific region, respecting international law and the legitimate interests of all countries," the Minister expressed.
New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Caroline Beresford said that over the past 50 years, the two countries have worked together to foster friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the two peoples. The seeds planted 50 years ago have now grown into a giant tree with deep roots and strong branches.
Vietnam and New Zealand are building a deep and lasting partnership, based on shared interests, similar approaches to international issues and respect for international law.
"We understand that the strengths of the two countries are complementary and believe that extensive cooperation will help enhance cultural understanding, foster trust, bring prosperity and contribute to regional stability," the Ambassador emphasized.
