VINACHEM and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of October 10, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Chemical Group (VINACHEM), the signing ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the period 2025-2030 between the Vietnam Chemical Group and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) took place - an event considered an important milestone in the process of concretizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, General Director of Vietnam Chemical Group and Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology represented the two sides to sign the Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the period 2025 - 2030 between the Group and the Institute.

Strategic Cooperation – A Bridge Between Research and Production

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Mr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Academy, and representatives of leaders of departments and specialized institutes of the Academy.

Mr. Phung Quang Hiep - Member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Chemical Group delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.

On the side of VINACHEM, there were Mr. Phung Quang Hiep, Member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Group's Board of Members; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Deputy Party Secretary, General Director of the Group, along with the Board of Directors, specialized departments of the Group and representatives of a number of member units.

According to the agreement, the two sides will coordinate research, application and transfer of advanced technologies, from laboratory to commercial production; cooperate in training high-quality human resources in the fields of green technology, new materials, sustainable energy, pharmaceutical chemistry and environmental treatment. At the same time, the two sides agreed to build a common scientific database, promote digital transformation in research and production, towards commercializing scientific and technological products on an industrial scale.

Realizing the spirit of Resolution 57 – Linking research, training and production

VINACHEM General Director Nguyen Huu Tu spoke.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, VINACHEM General Director Nguyen Huu Tu emphasized:

"The strategic cooperation between VINACHEM and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology is a concrete step to realize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo . With the Institute's team of leading experts and scientists and the Group's production and practical capacity, we can completely form new value chains based on knowledge and technology - creating a foundation for the sustainable development of the chemical industry in the green and digital era."

He affirmed that VINACHEM is committed to creating all favorable conditions for effective and practical implementation of cooperation programs, becoming a launching pad for scientific and technological breakthroughs and innovation in the entire industry. By connecting academic knowledge with production practices, the Group aims to build a modern, green Vietnamese chemical industry with high technology content and international competitiveness, making a positive contribution to the country's sustainable development.

Strengthening science and technology, raising the value of the chemical industry

Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology spoke.

On the Academy's side, Mr. Chau Van Minh highly appreciated the significance of the agreement, affirming that this is an important initial step to put research results into practical production - an urgent requirement to connect science with life, turning knowledge into material wealth.

"Many of the Institute's technologies have achieved success in research, but testing on a production scale is still limited. Cooperating with VINACHEM will help us evaluate, perfect and replicate the technology in a real industrial environment," - Mr. Chau Van Minh emphasized.

Within the framework of cooperation, the Academy will support research and application of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, energy storage materials, pharmaceutical chemistry, smart fertilizers and environmental treatment technology, and coordinate training of VINACHEM's technical and management staff through domestic and foreign joint training programs.

VINACHEM – Determined to innovate, taking science and technology as the spearhead of development

VINACHEM Chairman Phung Quang Hiep affirmed that technological breakthroughs are the key factor in the Group's development strategy. He said that VINACHEM is promoting cooperation with universities, research institutes, and large technology enterprises at home and abroad to develop new products with high added value, aiming to serve high-tech industries such as semiconductors, advanced materials, and clean energy.

"Competitive products can only be created with intelligence and brainpower. VINACHEM always combines research - training - production to turn knowledge into strength, contributing to building a modern, green and sustainable Vietnamese chemical industry," Mr. Phung Quang Hiep emphasized.

The signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between VINACHEM and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology is not only an important event of the two leading agencies, but also a symbol of the spirit of innovation set forth in Resolution 57-NQ/TW: taking science, technology and innovation as the central driving force for growth, improving productivity, quality and competitiveness of the economy.

Representatives of the Vietnam Chemical Group presented souvenirs to representatives of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

The connection between academic research and industrial production practices is expected to create a major shift in the development of new materials, products and technologies – contributing to putting the Vietnamese chemical industry firmly on the path of modernization, digitalization and greening, for the goal of "Science serving life - Chemistry for a sustainable future".
