Vinh Loc: Effectively responding to natural disasters during the 2025 storm season

Conference overview.

In 2024, Vinh Loc district was affected by 3 storms and post-storm circulations, tropical depressions caused a number of heavy rains that damaged over 817 hectares of agricultural production area and a number of dike and traffic works in the communes. Typical incidents include the No Thon culvert cage incident at location K26+711 on the left dike of Ma River, Vinh An Commune; landslides on the embankment and bank of Ma River in Ninh Khang Commune; landslides on inter-commune traffic roads at Xuoi culvert, Soc Son 1 Village, Vinh Hung Commune. Estimated damage is about 124 billion VND.

To respond to natural disasters in 2024, the District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention has issued documents directing and guiding communes, towns and sectors to deploy measures close to practical requirements; doing a good job of preparing forces, materials and means according to the "4 on-site" motto; coordinating with central and provincial levels and sectors to promptly overcome incidents, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

At the conference, the District People's Committee deployed the autumn-spring crop production plan, striving to plant 5,660 hectares of various crops (rice 4,453 hectares, corn 658.4 hectares); vegetables and beans of all kinds 12,000 hectares; other crops 11,900 hectares. To achieve the set goals, the district has proposed 7 specific tasks and solutions.

Attending the conference, delegates focused on discussing the preparation of plans, scenarios, forces, materials, means, and essential reserves in localities to effectively respond to natural disasters, incidents, and catastrophes occurring during the 2025 storm season, contributing to minimizing loss of life and property for people.

Collectives and individuals were awarded by the District People's Committee.

On this occasion, 14 collectives and 34 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in natural disaster prevention and agricultural production.
