This is an important step towards realizing the goal of bringing Hanoi National University into the top 500 universities in the world in the period 2026-2030.

Selecting 300 candidates for future lecturers and scientists

The focus of the strategy is the Program for developing lecturers and scientists for the period 2026-2031, with the goal of selecting about 300 excellent students with outstanding academic ability, passion for research and aspirations to become lecturers and scientists in the future.

The selection criteria are strictly established, not only based on academic achievements but also requiring foreign language proficiency, critical thinking, independent research ability, and especially long-term commitment to the University. Hanoi National University also gives priority to candidates from difficult circumstances but with the will to rise up and the desire to contribute to science.

Successful candidates will sign an official training contract, creating a two-way binding responsibility. The training path is personalized, including domestic and international training courses, in cooperation with leading universities such as Tokyo (Japan), Tsinghua (China), Paris-Saclay (France), KU Leuven (Belgium), Arizona (USA) and Moscow Diplomatic Academy (Russia).

Candidates are fully supported with tuition, living expenses, travel expenses, research, and internships at home and abroad, equivalent to prestigious international scholarship programs. In addition, Hanoi National University also guarantees insurance, foreign language study, accommodation, and opportunities to participate in the global network of young scientists established by the school.

Those who complete the program and meet the standards will be given priority for official recruitment as lecturers and researchers at Hanoi National University. Those who do not meet the academic requirements (results below good level) will be eliminated from the program.

Accelerate investment in outstanding scientists and research teams

In parallel, Hanoi National University is implementing a project to invest in developing excellent scientists and strong research groups. The goal is to build a team of 200 excellent scientists, each of whom publishes at least 4 ISI/Scopus international articles, thereby increasing the number of publications by 400-500 compared to 2023.

At the same time, the school established the VNU200 Club to connect and support this team, developing an advanced research ecosystem. About 50 strong research groups are invested in two directions: Linking with technology application and transfer, promoting commercialization, focusing on top international publications to enhance academic status.

In the period of 2026-2030, Hanoi National University aims to become an international standard research university, entering the top 500 universities in the world. The plan includes: Increasing the average international publication to 1.8 articles/lecturer, developing a club of 500 excellent scientists, building 100 strong research groups, expanding 15-20 scientific fields to achieve international rankings, and forming a startup ecosystem in the university.

The above programs not only contribute to improving the academic and research level of Hanoi National University, but also meet the requirements of sustainable development in accordance with the orientation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 45-NQ/TW on innovation and promoting the role of the national intellectual team.
