His wife asked for a divorce, but the husband in Thai Binh failed to hold on so he took a knife and stabbed himself in the stomach, then had to go to the emergency room.

On the evening of November 23, speaking with VietNamNet reporters, the leader of De Tham Ward Police (Thai Binh City, Thai Binh Province) confirmed that a young man in the area used a knife to stab himself in the stomach.

According to initial information, the incident happened at around 9am this morning, the couple (unknown identities, from Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province) made an appointment to meet at a shopping mall in De Tham ward to talk after the wife asked for a divorce. After failing to win back his wife, the husband took a small knife from his pocket and stabbed himself in the stomach.

At this time, the wife ran to find help and called an ambulance.

"The incident happened quickly but the man's life was not affected, only soft tissue injuries, and he is currently being treated at the hospital," said the leader of De Tham Ward Police.

The case is being further investigated and clarified by the police.
