On the afternoon of May 4, Jiu-Jitsu - the first martial art of the 32nd SEA Games - began. The first competition was Newaza Gi (pure wrestling - choke, wearing martial arts uniform) for female athletes. In this event, the Vietnamese team placed their hopes on Dang Thi Huyen (red belt).
Huyen once won the 2021 World Gold Medal in this category, in the 48kg category. But the 32nd SEA Games did not have that weight category, so the Vietnamese female boxer had to gain weight to compete in the -52kg category and soon lost to Jessa Khan - the host boxer who was the world champion, ASIAD and SEA Games champion.
