Volkswagen continues to lead the technology race by integrating ChatGPT - advanced voice assistant technology into its vehicles. According to the latest announcement at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) currently taking place in Las Vegas, Volkswagen will equip the Cerence Chat Pro system, developed by its partner Cerence (USA), on the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, Passat, Tiguan and the upgraded version of the Golf.

One of the highlights of this technology is the voice assistance system, which allows drivers and passengers to not only control entertainment features such as the media system, but also customize the climate control and receive answers from a common knowledge base.

According to a Volkswagen representative, one real-world scenario that ChatGPT can address is when an adult is traveling with a child and cannot use a phone to look up information. In this case, ChatGPT is able to answer questions naturally and safely, enhancing the user experience.

What's special is that drivers can activate the voice assistant by simply saying "Hello IDA" or by pressing a button on the steering wheel. This brings convenience and safety to drivers, allowing them to focus on driving without having to worry about controlling other functions in the car.

Volkswagen also emphasized that ChatGPT does not access vehicle data and promised that both questions and answers will be deleted immediately, ensuring the highest level of security for user data.

Following the US launch, Volkswagen plans to introduce the technology in its European models in the second quarter. While the North American market has not been confirmed, Volkswagen has said it is “under consideration.” So we could see Volkswagen models equipped with this advanced technology on the road soon.
