Women-owned SMEs are identified by many banks as one of the priority subjects for credit provision as well as other financial support solutions, including VPBank . Since 2017, VPBankSME has pioneered in supporting female-owned businesses through many practical and meaningful activities such as implementing preferential loan programs, developing WE credit cards exclusively for female-owned businesses with many attractive incentives and privileges, organizing trade connection chains, training and online/offline courses to improve management capacity, and meaningful seminars to help female entrepreneurs balance between career and family.
Consistent with its vision and desire to accompany female entrepreneurs, VPBankSME continues to realize the goal of helping female-owned businesses make breakthroughs, improve operational efficiency, and create a solid foundation for future development by launching a series of preferential products to comprehensively support this group of businesses.
Expanding financial incentives for female-owned businesses to develop sustainably
To address the issue of access to capital - one of the major difficulties that businesses face, VPBankSME has developed a policy to increase the loan limit for unsecured loans by up to 20% compared to regulations. For mortgage loans, increasing the loan-to-value ratio by 5% has helped businesses access larger loans, optimizing the ability to use assets to mobilize capital.
In addition, customers can take advantage of short-term capital from WE credit cards with a limit increased by 20% compared to other segments. WE credit cards have also just been upgraded with a more attractive cashback policy: unlimited 1% cashback for insurance, beauty, shopping, and dining spending; unlimited 0.5% cashback foreducation spending. Comes with VIP privileges such as airport lounges, Fast Track, or golf course incentives - contributing to enhancing the life experience for female leaders.
In the digitalization field, VPBankSME offers special incentives for the EcomPay payment gateway by waiving VND 700,000/month, reducing transaction fees by 0.2%, reducing deposits by up to 60%, supporting businesses to save operating costs when doing business online. In addition, customers opening new accounts will also receive a beautiful account number (such as 9999, 6868, 8888...) worth VND 5 million, exempting all money transfer fees on NEOBiz, reducing up to 50% of guarantee and L/C fees, and preferential foreign exchange rates from time to time.
Increase partner coordination to build advanced support projects
In 2025, VPBankSME will continue to accompany CARE Vietnam in the Bung Sang initiative (supported by Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth) to implement the project "Launchpad to support female-led businesses". The project focuses on improving knowledge for female entrepreneurs, notably the online course "Breakthrough business with AI" to help them quickly access and apply AI technology to effectively manage and operate their businesses. In addition to online training, the project also organizes offline classes, creating opportunities for female entrepreneurs and experts in the fields of economics , technology, and finance to connect, share, and learn.
Not only training, the project also provides practical support such as: online sales sponsorship with KOLs, production of business introduction videos, gifts for female customers accessing capital from VPBank for the first time... These activities contribute to strengthening the connection and understanding between the bank and customers.
Through 4 core “launching pads”: Finance, Technology, Trade and Knowledge, VPBankSME and CARE Vietnam continue to affirm their role in comprehensively supporting female entrepreneurs, helping them confidently break through and conquer their limits.
“Currently, VPBank has female-owned business customers accounting for about 21.6% of total SME business customers. The trust of a large number of customers is a great motivation for us to continue researching and implementing more innovative and useful products and services for this customer segment in the future. This is also a strong commitment of VPBank in accompanying businesses to improve business efficiency and sustainable development” – VPBankSME representative shared more.
According to reports updated to April 2024, about 51% of enterprises in Vietnam have at least one woman in their ownership structure, a rate that is superior to the average of many other countries. Meanwhile, according to the Report “Promoting Enterprise Growth by Removing Barriers” - White Book on Women-Led Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam jointly conducted by ADB and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, women currently own about 20% of operating SMEs (equivalent to more than 105,000 enterprises). These figures not only demonstrate the growing role of women in the business sector, but also show the great potential that needs to be exploited and supported to contribute more strongly to the economy.
