Dienbien.gov.vn - On the morning of January 10, at Tong Khao Martyrs Cemetery (Thanh Nua Commune, Dien Bien District), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province solemnly held a memorial service and buried 7 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers - the nation's outstanding sons who fulfilled their noble international duty and sacrificed in Laos to their final resting place in their homeland Vietnam. Attending the ceremony were the delegation of the National Steering Committee 515; the delegation of the Special Working Committee of the Government of the Lao PDR; the delegation of the Association of Vietnamese People and the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs residing in 6 northern Lao provinces; the delegation of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 2. On the Dien Bien Province side, there were comrade Vu A Bang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches, unions, and armed forces of the province; Leaders of Dien Bien Phu city and Dien Bien district.

In the first phase of the 2024 - 2025 dry season, Dien Bien received, held a memorial service and buried 7 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos and returned home.

In the first phase of the 2024-2025 dry season, Dien Bien province received the remains of 8 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos, handed over by the Military Region 2's Martyrs' Grave Collection Team according to military protocol. Of which, 7 sets of martyrs' remains that were not yet identified were buried at Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery, and 1 set of martyrs' remains were handed over to Hoa Binh province.

The remains of the martyrs were brought from Udomxay (Lao PDR) through Tay Trang International Border Gate to Tong Khao Martyrs Cemetery, Dien Bien District, Dien Bien Province on the morning of January 9, in the waiting of thousands of cadres, soldiers, students, and people in Dien Bien Phu City and Dien Bien District.

At the ceremony, the eulogy read by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang affirmed the friendship, solidarity and loyalty between the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos over many decades, especially in the revolutionary struggle against the common enemy. The great dedication and sacrifice of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers during the years of fighting in Laos have become a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and the aspiration for independence, freedom and happiness for the two peoples. Our Fatherland and our people will forever remember and be grateful for the great contributions and heroic sacrifices of the heroic martyrs who devoted their whole lives to the Fatherland and to the noble international mission.

In front of the heroic martyrs, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province vow to forever raise high the flag of national independence and socialism, continue to carry out the renovation process, and lead the country steadily forward to gain many new and greater victories on the revolutionary path that the Party and beloved President Ho Chi Minh have chosen. Determined to build and firmly defend the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Unite as one, overcome all difficulties and challenges, build the province to become increasingly prosperous, firmly protect the borders of the Fatherland. Well implement the policies of the Army, the Army's rear, the movements of "When drinking water, remember its source", "Repaying gratitude", worthy of the heroic tradition of Dien Bien Phu.

The delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the noble international duty. After the memorial service , the remains of the martyrs were moved and buried at Tong Khao Martyrs Cemetery. From now on, they have returned to rest in the bosom of Mother Vietnam.

Of the 8 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos, handed over by the Military Region 2's Martyrs' Grave Collection Team according to military protocol, 7 sets of remains of martyrs whose identities were not yet determined were buried and memorialized at Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery.

After the memorial service, the remains of the martyrs were moved and buried at Tong Khao Martyrs Cemetery.

From now on, the martyrs have been laid to rest in the bosom of motherland Vietnam.

Thousands of cadres, soldiers, students and people in Dien Bien Phu City and Dien Bien District have been waiting for the remains of martyrs to be brought back to the country since the morning of January 9.
