Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee added that after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the locality will continue to consolidate records and enforce cases of illegal villa construction in Duong Bao hamlet.

Regarding the incident, previously on December 15, 2023, Mr. PVC and Mr. PVB (both residing in Ho Chi Minh City) had to demolish 2 illegally built villas.

Mr. B. committed an administrative violation by occupying agricultural land (perennial land) in a rural area with an area of 921 square meters and building a villa with an area of 171 square meters.

Mr. C. committed an administrative violation by occupying agricultural land (perennial land) in a rural area with an area of 512 square meters.

As Dan Tri reported, 79 illegally built villas are located on a 18.9-hectare plot of land in Duong Bao Hamlet, Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc City. This land was previously a protected forest land, which was reclaimed by the Provincial People's Committee and handed over to the Duong To Commune People's Committee for management.

However, taking advantage of the Covid-19 epidemic, the "landowners" sold to each other by handwritten papers without any documents showing the land ownership. After buying back, the new owners built villas.

Thus, up to now, 23/79 violating houses have been demolished.
