After the Lao Dong Newspaper reported, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province intervened and 3 students returned to school.

Mr. Do Tuong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, said that immediately after the Lao Dong Newspaper reported the incident, the Department established a team to verify the incident and the results showed that the contents reported by the newspaper were true.

The verification team clarified that in the 2024-2025 school year, 16 12th grade students of Cao Ba Quat High School dropped out of school or reserved their study results. Of these, 5 students submitted applications to reserve their study results.

However, the process of handling student absences and retaining results at Cao Ba Quat High School is not in accordance with the school's charter and current regulations. Specifically, there is no regulation on retaining students' learning results.

Mr. Do Tuong Hiep responded to the press at the press conference

Thus, the homeroom teacher advising students to write an application to reserve their study results is not in accordance with regulations.

Regarding the content of the reflection after writing the reservation application on April 16, a student requested to return to school many times but was not accepted. It was not until May 12, after the press reflected and the Department of Education and Training intervened, that the students were allowed to return to school, which is exactly as the press reflected.

Also according to Mr. Hiep, by this afternoon (May 14), 3 students have asked to return to school including: HGB, HTP and HYM. Of these, 1 student returned to school on May 12, 2 students returned to school today (May 14).

"Yesterday morning, I discussed with the Ministry of Education and Training and registered high school graduation exam accounts for all 12th grade students at Cao Ba Quat High School, including those who have dropped out of school or requested to reserve their results. This is to ensure that in the future, any student who meets the requirements and requests to return to school must be able to take the graduation exam," Mr. Hiep emphasized.

HGB and her parents complained to reporters about their request to return to school, but the principal said "it's been erased."

Regarding public opinion that this is a "trick" of the school to reduce the high school graduation failure rate in the upcoming exam, Mr. Hiep said that there is currently no basis to confirm this, the Department of Education and Training continues to verify to clarify this content. At the same time, the Department is continuing to verify related content to consolidate the records, properly handle the responsibility of the collective and individuals involved at Cao Ba Quat High School.

"Thank you, reporter, for your findings so that the education sector can promptly make corrections and implement better," said Mr. Hiep.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, many 12th grade students at Cao Ba Quat High School, who were said to have poor academic performance, "voluntarily" submitted applications to reserve their study results or drop out of school immediately after being invited by the homeroom teacher and principal for a "discussion".

On April 16, after the results of the second semester midterm exam were announced, HGB and her parents were invited to meet the principal, Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Hue. According to the parents' feedback, after being "confided" by the principal, HGB was upset and wrote a request to leave school, reserving her results when there were more than 2 months left for the graduation exam.

One day later, the child's parent texted the homeroom teacher to ask to return to school, but received the reply: "No, the principal has approved it." When the parent questioned and begged for their child to return to school, the teacher texted: "I'll return the diploma at 9:35 at the school gate."

Then, on April 29, the parents went to school to meet Principal Huynh Thi Kim Hue to ask for their children to go back to school. Here, the Principal said: "HGB was not approved for the graduation exam, and did not pass the exam...". At this time, the parents begged that they still had a few months left to ask her to let them go back to school, but Ms. Hue said: "The school has already erased the records, how can they go back to school? Okay, I thought something happened, go home."

Similarly, after being invited to work by the school, two 12th grade students, YTA and YLE, with quite low academic scores, "voluntarily" wrote a letter of request to leave school and reserve their results. These two students are currently working as porters.

Regarding student D.QT on April 15, the homeroom teacher brought him to meet the principal to consult and discuss his learning situation. After the meeting with the principal, student D.QT returned to class, got his bag, went home and skipped school.
