Selfishness creates disrespectful actions.

In recent days, social media has been spreading a video clip of a group of young people yelling at veterans while waiting in line to watch the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

That behavior has caused outrage in the community, because it goes against the tradition of "respecting the elderly, achieving longevity", especially on a sacred occasion like April 30. In this group of young people, there is a young man who is said to be a student at Van Lang University.

Many people think that the group of young people had behaved disrespectfully towards adults and should be condemned.

Immediately after the incident, Van Lang University spoke up, saying that it had received many reports about the incident and had held an urgent meeting. At the same time, the school was also coordinating with the Faculty and the student affairs department to promptly verify and handle the incident in accordance with the regulations of the Student Affairs Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

“The school does not agree with the substandard behavior of an individual student, which negatively affects the overall positive image of the student community and does not represent Van Lang University.”

Shortly after, a post that was said to be from the student appeared on social media. In this status, the student expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness.

"I know that it is too late to say these things, but I still want to speak up and take responsibility for my foolish actions. I was born into a family with a revolutionary tradition, and was raised andeducated by my family about the good things to be a good person.

But I was too hasty and foolish, because of the hot weather, because of my selfishness in wanting to film and take beautiful pictures during the parade, I hurt the veterans - the people who did not spare their blood and bones for us to live peacefully like today. And it was also my unacceptable actions and words that affected my teachers, friends, the school's traditions and even those who gave birth to and educated me. Once again, I sincerely apologize and hope to be forgiven. I promise to never do it again."

While public opinion is still outraged, the online community "scrutinized" that the above article was 80% written by AI, many people wondered, is this a post by the owner or a fake account created to appease or distract public opinion?

There are still many young people who live gratefully for the past.

The incident of the Van Lang University student is just an isolated phenomenon, not representative of the thinking of the entire young generation, it is like “a rotten apple spoils the barrel”. We should not judge an entire generation by an individual mistake. Instead, let’s look at the incident as a common lesson for schools, families and society to work together to cultivate a young generation that is knowledgeable, compassionate and has national pride.

Because, at the same ceremony that day, many young people, students, and young soldiers showed kindness and respect to the veterans. Many of them proactively gave up their good seats, shaded them from the sun, fetched water, and helped the elderly from the parking lot to the stands.

Or the image of students quietly standing behind, giving the honorable position to the veterans, moved many people. That is the typical portrait of today's youth, living with morality, grateful for the past and respecting history.

This incident is a valuable lesson, not only for that student, but also for the whole society. It reminds us that moral education, gratitude and public behavior are still things that cannot be taken lightly. But at the same time, this is also an opportunity for us to see the positive side that most of the young generation still carry within them a sense of responsibility, compassion and national pride.

An apology does not take away dignity, on the contrary, it is the beginning of maturity. And a civilized society is a place that is ready to remind of wrongs, but also does not forget to acknowledge and spread what is right and beautiful.
