Vu Thu: The dike surface is ruined, people suffer when participating in traffic

Báo Thái BìnhBáo Thái Bình23/05/2023

Broken concrete surface, potholes, and concavities are the reality of the Hong Ha II dike route through Tu Tan and Tan Lap communes (Vu Thu) in recent years. Not only does it cause difficulties and dangers for traffic participants, it also affects the work of flood prevention and control, and dike rescue during the storm season.

The dike road at Cong Gu (Tan Lap commune) is broken and creates a lot of dust every time a vehicle passes by.

In addition to the task of flood prevention and control, the Hong Ha II dike, about 5km long, connecting Tu Tan commune to Bach Thuan commune, plays the role of a traffic route connecting the area with the district center, serving the production, daily life and study of thousands of households in Phu Sa village (Tu Tan), Tra Khe village, Tang Bong (Tan Lap) and Bach Thuan commune. However, up to now, the dike surface from Phu Sa culvert (Tu Tan commune) to Gu culvert (Tan Lap) has been seriously degraded. The dike surface was poured with concrete many years ago, due to time and many factors, in the past 2-3 years, the concrete surface of the dike has been broken, creating large gaps, potholes, causing difficulties and dangers for traffic participants.

Cracked concrete causes difficulties and dangers for traffic participants.

Ms. Tran Thi Khuyen and Ms. Tran Thi Ben, Tra Khe village, Tan Lap commune, said that during rush hour, the traffic volume through the dike is quite high, especially students, workers and people going to the market. Due to the serious deterioration of the dike surface, people have difficulty and hardship in traffic, and accidents often occur here. To avoid this dike, people sneak into residential roads to go, causing chaotic and complicated traffic situations in the area.

“In my opinion, the main cause of the dike surface being broken and seriously degraded is that at many times, overloaded construction material trucks often travel on the dike. Even if the dike surface is renovated and upgraded in the future, I still request that all levels and sectors pay attention to preventing and thoroughly handling overloaded vehicles traveling on the dike road, protecting the safety of the dike surface to help people travel more conveniently,” added Mr. Trinh Van Loan, Phu Sa village, Tu Tan commune.

Tan Lap commune has 3.5km of Hong Ha II dike running through it, and this is also the main traffic route serving the travel needs of about 50% of the commune's population, of which the dike section from Gu culvert to Cong market, more than 500m long, has seriously degraded.

Mr. Tran Van Tam, Chairman of Tan Lap Commune People's Committee, said: Due to frequent accidents on this dike, people have continuously reported and made recommendations to the local government. Before the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao, the Commune People's Committee invested more than 30 million VND to buy rocks, hire workers to fill potholes, large cracks caused by broken concrete, and create a temporary flat surface to reduce traffic difficulties for people, to prevent accidents.

The dike surface at Cong Gu (Tan Lap commune) has serious cracks, causing difficulties and dangers for traffic participants.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen, Head of the Dike Management Department of Vu Thu district, said: Realizing that the Hong Ha II dike from K161 to K165+750 through the communes of Bach Thuan, Tan Lap, and Tu Tan has degraded, the district has proactively exploited and mobilized resources to renovate and upgrade the dike surface. In particular, the most seriously degraded section is from K164 + 500 to K165 + 750 from Phu Sa water guard point (Tu Tan) to Gu culvert (Tan Lap) which will be invested in upgrading and renovating through the project to strengthen the dike system in the period of 2021 - 2025. When the project is implemented, the dike will be built up, the dike surface will be expanded to 7m (currently 4m) and hardened by spreading asphalt concrete to increase durability. The project is currently being implemented and is expected to be completed in 2025. In addition, the district will continue to mobilize resources and projects to soon upgrade the remaining dike section, from K161 to K164+500 (through Bach Thuan and Tan Lap communes) to meet the needs of traffic, production and daily life of the people, especially upgrading the solid dike to contribute to protecting the safety of people's lives and property when natural disasters and floods occur. The Hong Ha II dike from K161 to K165+750 is being renovated with the aim of connecting and developing eco-tourism in Bach Thuan garden village and surrounding areas, developing the district's socio -economy and improving people's lives.
