King Charles III will be crowned with traditional ceremonies today, officially becoming the head of the British monarchy.

The coronation ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11am (5pm Hanoi time) at Westminster Abbey, London. The ceremony will be presided over by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, with the participation of more than 2,000 guests.

At the ceremony, King Charles III will be anointed, receive the royal regalia and ascend the throne, officially becoming the head of the British monarchy and head of the Commonwealth nations. Queen Camilla will also be anointed and crowned.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla also took part in the parade from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey and back again after the coronation. The May 6 events ended after King Charles III, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a six-minute flypast by the Royal Air Force.

King Charles III was crowned in September 2022, after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at the age of 96. This was a ceremony to announce the king's accession to the throne, with the coronation taking place several months later, as the country was in a period of mourning over the death of the late king and this event required a lot of preparation.

Celebrations for the coronation of King Charles III will continue on May 7 and 8, including a series of Big Lunches street parties, musical performances at Windsor Castle and the Big Help Out charity campaign.

In London and elsewhere, shops and public areas have been decorated with the Union Jack. About 30 giant screens set up across the UK will broadcast the coronation of King Charles III live.

Royal fans flocked to The Mall, the route along which the King and Queen will be paraded, to get the best view of the event. Kerry Evans, 58, from Lincolnshire, eastern England, said she could not miss the coronation.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a coronation. Everything about the royal family is amazing," said Sarah Exner, 29, from the US. "We don't have similar events in the US . It's great to be here."
