Special certificate with embossed characters of the person who participated in building Uncle Ho's Mausoleum

(Dan Tri) - Mr. Nguyen Kim Hieu was the one who participated in building Uncle Ho's Mausoleum. More than 52 years have passed, but he still preserves the memorabilia related to this period, including a special certificate with the letters AA embossed on it.

At the age of 79, Dr. Nguyen Kim Hieu, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, still remembers clearly the time he and his teammates built the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. For him, it was a source of pride, an unforgettable memory.

In 1971, Mr. Hieu graduated from the Faculty of Electricity, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and then joined the army. He was assigned to the Z1 factory under the Military Equipment Department, General Department of Logistics, Ministry of National Defense . Thanks to his good performance at work, he was sent to receive military and political training at the Army Officer School 1. After graduating, Mr. Hieu was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

In May 1972, Mr. Hieu was assigned to work at Regiment 259B under the Engineering Command.

"When I came here, I found out that I was chosen to participate in building a special project, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. I participated in this work from 1973 to 1978," Mr. Nguyen Kim Hieu shared.

The construction of the mausoleum was kept absolutely secret. Those selected to participate in the mausoleum construction needed to meet political standards and have high professional qualifications in many different fields.

During the construction of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, Mr. Hieu was assigned to hold the position of Deputy Captain and then Captain of the Electrical and Automation Team of Group 195.

In the first phase, Mr. Hieu had access to and researched technical documents related to the construction of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum. These were advanced techniques and technologies in the world at that time.

Along with researching documents, he and many other officers were assigned the task of selecting workers for technical teams to serve the construction of the mausoleum.

These people are selected from different military branches of the Ministry of National Defense. They are skilled workers, level 3 workers or higher, and ensure political standards.

Members of the technical teams are highly skilled people at their work units. However, to meet the requirements of participating in the construction of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, they must be trained and retrained to access advanced technologies.

These people were then tested by top experts in the field. Only those who passed the complex tests were allowed to directly participate in the construction of the mausoleum.

Special certificate with embossed AA character

According to Mr. Hieu, the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum must be kept secret. The task of ensuring security is assigned to the Ministry of Public Security. Those involved in the construction of the mausoleum are granted a special certificate by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Construction Protection Board.

This certificate contains personal information and unique symbols to distinguish security levels. For over 52 years, Mr. Hieu has kept the certificate as Deputy Captain of the Electrical and Automation Team.

On Mr. Hieu's certificate, there are the letters AA embossed. This is a certificate issued to people who are allowed to enter the most important positions in the construction of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum.

The construction of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was carried out during the war period, so the country encountered many difficulties and shortages. However, those who participated in the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum overcame all challenges to carry out the task with the highest determination.

During the construction of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, the Electrical and Automation Team achieved many outstanding achievements, including many technical innovations.

"We work not only with our hands and minds but also with all our sacred feelings for Uncle Ho," Mr. Hieu shared.

From May to September 1975, the mausoleum construction team had to work 2-3 shifts to complete the mausoleum in time for the cadres, soldiers, and people to visit Uncle Ho on the occasion of National Day, September 2. The workload was large, requiring high technical requirements, and the progress was urgent. However, those involved in the construction of Uncle Ho's mausoleum still completed the work on schedule.

After completing his mission, Mr. Nguyen Kim Hieu was awarded a certificate of merit by the Board in charge of building President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.

"For us, contributing to the construction of the Mausoleum is a source of pride for our entire lives. We carry this pride with us as motivation for our future work and contributions to the country," Mr. Hieu shared.

After the completion of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Mr. Hieu was assigned to participate in the operation of the electrical system here. A while later, he was selected by his unit to go to the Soviet Union for postgraduate study.

In 1984, Mr. Hieu completed the program and returned home to teach. After a while, he worked at Electricity Company 3 before returning to his hometown of Quang Ngai to work.

From 2001 to 2006, Dr. Nguyen Kim Hieu was elected Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province. After leaving the position of Chairman of the province, Mr. Hieu continued to work at the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Quang Ngai province. In 2018, Dr. Nguyen Kim Hieu retired.

President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum officially started construction on September 2, 1973 and was completed and put into operation on September 2, 1975.

Uncle Ho's Mausoleum is a massive, majestic architectural work. The mausoleum is 21.6m high and 31m wide.

On the evening of July 18, 1975, the special convoy carrying Uncle Ho's body arrived at Ba Dinh Square. The highest leaders of the Party and State were waiting to welcome Uncle Ho to the mausoleum to rest in eternal peace.
