Attending the opening ceremony were Colonel Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Region 2, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest; Colonel Tran Hong Que, Deputy Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2.
With the guiding ideology: "Solidarity, honesty, objectivity", the content of the contest focuses on combat advisory work, training; Party work, political work; professional work, law; logistics, technology and foreign languages.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Colonel Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Commander of the Military Region 2 of the Coast Guard, affirmed that, in response to the requirements of the task of building a "revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern" Vietnam Coast Guard force, especially the task of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the new situation, one of the urgent requirements and tasks is to build a team of officers with sufficient moral qualities, intelligence and capacity. Therefore, the 2023 Competition for Excellent Squadron Officers is an opportunity to test the professional capacity, tactical thinking, political mettle, commanding style and methods; creativity, acumen and the ability to apply knowledge to the performance of duties and tasks in leading and commanding the unit of the squadron officers.
Through the contest, the organizing committee will select outstanding comrades to participate in the Competition for excellent naval officers at the Vietnam Police Command. At the same time, it will help the Party Committee, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command to assess the actual level and comprehensive capacity, as a basis for orienting the work of training, coaching, fostering, creating sources, promoting and appointing officers of the units, meeting the requirements of assigned tasks.
Colonel Nguyen Van Tan requested the organizing committee and the jury to uphold the sense of responsibility, organize the contest thoughtfully, ensure solidarity, objectivity and safety; run the contest scientifically, in accordance with the approved program and plan; adhere to the regulations, work seriously, give fair and objective comments and scores, accurately reflecting the qualifications and abilities of the staff.
Due to the high requirements, the Deputy Commander of the Military Region 2 of the Coast Guard requested that the participating officers must have a correct understanding of the purpose and meaning of the contest; closely link theory with practice, theory with practice; strictly follow the schedule of the organizing committee, the jury, and the contest regulations; participate with the highest spirit and responsibility, be calm and confident, complete the contest content excellently and ensure absolute safety in all aspects.
According to the plan, the 2023 Competition for Excellent Squadron Officers of Coast Guard Region 2 will take place from May 14 to 18. After the competition, agencies and units will organize experience sharing, point out the limitations of the squadron officers, coordinate to select high-ranking candidates, and form a team to participate in the Competition for Excellent Squadron Officers at the Coast Guard Command level.
