NDO - Figures released by the Philippine Department of Tourism on March 6 showed that the country's tourism industry earned 65.3 billion pesos (equivalent to 1.1 billion USD) in January 2025, exceeding the pre-Covid-19 pandemic level in 2019.
This strong growth is a signal that the tourism industry has fully recovered from the pandemic and continues to grow and expand, making an important contribution to the country's economic stability and growth, said Tourism Minister Christina Frasco.
According to data from the Department of Tourism, the Philippines welcomed 1,167,908 international tourists to the island nation in the first two months of 2025.
Of these, 295,611 tourists came from South Korea, continuing to hold the position of the Philippines' largest tourism market from 2023.
In 2024, the Philippine tourism industry achieved a record revenue of 760.5 billion pesos (equivalent to 13.1 billion USD), marking a successful year for the country's smokeless industry.
