On December 29, the organizing committee of the 2023 National Outstanding Coach and Athlete Awards announced the voting results.
Accordingly, in the category of Outstanding Athlete, Pham Quang Huy came first with 985 points.
He achieved this feat by winning the gold medal in the 10-meter air pistol event at the 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou, China.
This is the only individual gold medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation, besides two team gold medals in sepak takraw and karate.

Pham Quang Huy's teacher, Coach Park Chung-gun, won the Coach of the Year award. He was the one who directly taught and trained Pham Quang Huy. The Korean teacher's score was 419 points.
Following Mr. Park are Coach Mai Duc Chung (women's football team), Nguyen Tuan Kiet (Vietnam women's volleyball team), Tran Thi Vui (soccer team) and Nguyen Hoang Ngan (karate team).
By winning the 32nd SEA Games gold medal and participating in the World Cup for the first time in history, the Vietnamese women's football team received the award for outstanding sports team in 2023.
In the Vietnam Disabled Athlete Award, weightlifter Le Van Cong won with 478 points, ahead of the second place Le Tien Dat with 465 points. The award for outstanding disabled sports coach went to Mr. Le Quang Thai of the weightlifting team.
The awards will be honored at the Vietnam Sports Glory program, held on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam's sports industry (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024).
