Green Journey - Clean Beach" with VWS
Early in the morning of August 16, buses carrying hundreds of VWS employees headed to Vinh Hy beach - a place considered a rough gem of the South Central Coast. With cheerful laughter, the employees confided that they were very excited to have such long holidays. Working in a waste treatment environment for the city, operating 24/7, long trips with family have become the desire of many people.

The highlight of the trip was the garbage collection and beach cleaning activity on Coc Beach in Vinh Hy Bay. Right after arriving, instead of just resting and having fun, the first thing the VWS blue uniforms did was to prepare gloves, tools and garbage bags, diligently picking up each plastic bag, each plastic bottle, dirty trash and rotten trees washed ashore by the waves and neatly collecting them. In no time, this area immediately became clean and beautiful.

This activity is in line with VWS’s message “For a greener and greener environment”, calling on the community to join hands to protect the marine environment, fight plastic waste and raise awareness of sustainable development. The image of hundreds of employees and their families and relatives dividing into groups to pick up trash on the beach left a strong impression, affirming that environmental protection is not the job of one person alone.

For many children who came with their parents, this experience became a vivid lesson in environmental protection awareness. Carrying a heavy bag of trash with a bright smile, little girl Bao Chi (13 years old) excitedly said: “Today, I went with my parents and the uncles and aunts in VWS Company to play and cleaned the beach together. I picked up a lot of plastic bottles and trash around and put them in bags. From this activity, I am more aware of keeping the environment clean, not littering and sorting trash at the source. Through this, I also see that protecting the marine environment is a meaningful activity, picking up trash will help protect the environment to become greener - cleaner - more beautiful”.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Bao (39 years old) has been with VWS for nearly 20 years, this time he brought his whole family to join the trip. Mr. Bao confided: “Every year, the company organizes a vacation for workers. But this year, combined with the trash collection activity, I found the trip much more meaningful. In particular, luck smiled on my team when they were awarded first prize in group activities.” Mr. Bao added that a clean living environment is the foundation of human health. If the environment is polluted, the lives of the next generation will be affected. Therefore, this experience is not only a vacation, but also a practical lesson for children.
From group games on the beach to a gala dinner filled with laughter, the trip became the glue that connected hundreds of people from different departments. There was no longer a gap between leaders and employees, but only a spirit of solidarity and sharing.
Connect and share, join hands for the community
Attending the beach cleaning activities with employees and laborers, Ms. Huynh Lan Phuong, Deputy General Director of VWS Company, said that each trip of the company is calculated to bring joy to workers and also be associated with social values. “We do not want the trip to stop at just resting. A plastic bag picked up may be small, but the important thing is that the action evokes a change in perception. When workers and their families experience it directly, this spirit will be brought home, spreading to friends and the community,” Ms. Phuong said.
According to Ms. Phuong, in VWS's development strategy, employees are the center. The company understands that employees work in a particularly stressful and toxic environment, so taking care of their welfare must be a top priority. Not only through salary and bonus, VWS also invests in the spiritual life of employees such as summer trips, birthdays, year-end parties, holidays for women and children, valuable Tet gifts... The company also regularly and promptly rewards individuals with outstanding achievements, especially female employees...
“Even in difficult times, the company still persists in maintaining welfare for everyone. We believe that only when employees are fully cared for, will they feel secure in their commitment and be able to accompany the business for a long time,” VWS leaders emphasized.

In addition to taking care of workers' lives, VWS also aims to spread the spirit of environmental protection, cleaning up wherever it goes. According to Ms. Phuong, if each worker's family forms the habit of sorting waste at the source and preserving the environment from small things, this will quickly become a common way of life. "In many countries, it takes decades to form the habit of sorting waste. In Vietnam, if there is consensus from individuals to the collective, that time will certainly be shortened," Ms. Phuong hopes.
The representative of VWS's Trade Union affirmed that each trip is an opportunity for workers to rest and bond, and then return to work with more enthusiasm. "We believe that taking care of the spirit of workers is creating internal strength for the sustainable development of the enterprise. VWS always supports and creates conditions for the Trade Union to organize vacation programs for workers. If there is a lack of funds, the company is ready to supplement so that all workers and their families can participate," said the representative of the trade union.
VWS leaders affirmed: The company always maintains many meaningful benefits for employees. VWS always wants to create a working environment - where all employees are respected, recognized and shared. That is also a way for them to be more attached, consider the company as a second home.
In addition to processing more than 50% of Ho Chi Minh City's daily waste (previously) with modern technology, through community activities, VWS Company always continuously affirms meaningful messages about environmental protection for a green future for future generations.
