On March 6, Prince William's official spokesman was forced to speak out about negative rumors related to Kate's health.
"He wants to focus on work and not social media," a spokesperson for the Prince of Wales told The People magazine, suggesting that William was unconcerned with unfounded speculation about his wife's health.
The announcement comes after royal watchers expressed concern online about the health of the Princess of Wales. Since being admitted to hospital in January this year, Kate has only been seen briefly behind a car window.
"He is focused on work, not social media," a spokesman for the Prince of Wales said.
Kensington Palace described Kate's surgery as "planned" at the time, but sources close to her told Page Six that even her closest aides were kept in the dark about it.
Last month, the royal palace also shared a brief statement that Kate was "currently well" but declined to reveal further information out of respect for her privacy.
"Kensington Palace was clear in January about the princess' recovery timeline and we will only provide important updates. That plan remains unchanged," Kate's representative exclusively told Page Six at the time.
The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery in January and has not made any official public appearances since.
Kate is not expected to return to her royal duties until after Easter, which falls on March 31 this year.
Social media users have recently spread countless theories about Kate's health, with many even making baseless speculations that she has had plastic surgery or is in a coma.
Last week, Prince William suddenly canceled his plans to attend an important event of the British Royal family. It was the Memorial Service for William's late godfather, King Constantine II of Greece. He only announced his absence for "personal reasons", the specific incident was not disclosed. This further "fueled" the suspicions of many fans about Kate's situation.
However, Kate later "allayed" public concerns when she was seen wearing sunglasses, sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by her mother, Carole Middleton, near Windsor Castle.
