Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang's family's Lac Thuy chicken farm brings high economic efficiency.
Realizing that his hometown land is suitable for developing farm economy, in 2016, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang boldly borrowed 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank of Nhu Thanh district. With his own capital and borrowed from his brothers and friends, he rented 3 hectares of land in Bai Gao 2 village to build a farm to raise Lac Thuy chickens, with a total investment of 750 million VND. During the process of raising chickens, Mr. Hoang always adheres to farming techniques, regularly vaccinates, cleans the barn to limit the outbreak of diseases, monitors and records the growth process of the chickens. Thanks to his knowledge and experience in raising chickens, the chickens are less sick, grow quickly, and sell for a good price. Up to now, his family's farm always has over 2,000 broiler chickens and 1,800 egg-laying chickens. Each year, the farm sells 50 tons of broiler chickens and 30,000 eggs. In 2024, his family's chicken egg products were recognized as 3-star OCOP products at the provincial level. To have a stable output, he established Hoang Thuy Agricultural Cooperative and signed contracts with poultry companies in and outside the province to supply chickens and eggs; linked with 10 households in the commune to support chicken breeds and feed, and purchased products for households. After deducting expenses, his family earns over 300 million VND in profit each year, creating jobs for 3 regular workers and 7 seasonal workers with an income of 7 million VND/person/month.
Secretary of Mau Lam Commune Party Committee Quach Van Chinh said: In recent years, the commune has had many solutions to help people develop the economy, focusing on transforming the economic structure towards reducing the proportion of agricultural structure, gradually increasing the proportion of services and industry - construction . The commune has mobilized people to apply scientific and technical advances, intensive farming to increase crop productivity, and apply mechanization to fields. Up to now, the whole commune has applied mechanization to fields at a rate of 75%, the annual planting area is over 894 hectares, the estimated yield is 59 quintals/ha, and the food output is 5,124 tons. People have boldly converted some ineffective rice growing areas to grow 27.45 hectares of fruit trees, bringing high income to the people. Along with that, the people in the commune have signed a contract with the Branch of Vietnam Dairy Cow Company Limited - Thanh Hoa Dairy Farm to purchase 40 hectares of corn for dairy cow feed, with an output of 1,706 tons/year. The commune has created conditions for people to access loans to develop farm and family farm models that bring economic efficiency. The whole commune has 39 pig farms with a scale of 30 to 250 pigs. Many households have invested in raising pigs, honey bees, frogs, bamboo rats, etc., bringing high economic efficiency.
With favorable economic conditions, people in the commune focus on expanding the industry - construction, trade - service sectors. Currently, the commune has 7 enterprises, 2 cooperatives, 14 forestry processing establishments, 1 garment factory, 8 mechanical workshops, 7 construction teams, 314 wholesale stores, over 50 freight and passenger vehicles, creating jobs for hundreds of workers. In addition, the whole commune has 2,150 workers working in domestic companies and factories, 163 citizens working abroad every year, bringing in significant income, contributing to the total income of the locality. In 2024, the production value of industry - construction, trade - service sectors in Mau Lam commune is estimated to reach over 411 billion VND, accounting for over 74% of the total social revenue; average income per capita reaches 60.4 million VND/person/year.
