The beach is located in Tien Hai commune ( An Giang ).
The victims are LTTh.V (born in 2006) and PTTV (born in 2011), both residing in Hoa Hung commune (An Giang).
According to Nguyen Cong Tuoc, Deputy Head of the Economic and Social Department of Tien Hai Commune, at around 1:30 p.m. on August 16, Ms. Th.V, Ms. TV, along with Mr. LTP, residing in Hoa Hung Commune (An Giang Province) and their family visited and swam at the beach in Tien Hai Commune. At 2 p.m., everyone returned, leaving 4 people, including NPT, LTP, PTTV and LTTh.V.
Ms. Th.V, Ms. TV and Mr. P took the soup and swam out to sea. While swimming, Th.V and TV sat on the soup, while P stood below and pushed the soup to jump over the waves. After pushing it about 5m, P's hand could not reach the soup, and at the same time, he called for Th.V to swim to shore. At this time, a big wave hit hard, causing the soup to capsize, Ms. Th.V and TV fell into the sea, Mr. P ran to shore and called for help.
At 3:30 p.m., Tien Hai Commune authorities rescued two victims and took them to a medical facility for emergency treatment, but they did not survive. Local authorities have completed the relevant procedures for the victims' families to take them home for funeral arrangements.

To proactively respond to strong winds, big waves, thunderstorms and bad weather at sea, the Department of Tourism of An Giang province has issued a document requesting the Department of Culture and Information of communes and wards of the special zone to proactively coordinate with relevant agencies and units to strengthen inspection work and remind tourism businesses in the management area to strictly implement the instructions of the authorities on timely response measures to the situation of strong winds, big waves and thunderstorms.
Tourism service businesses monitor and update weather developments, promptly remind tourists to be vigilant against the risk of complicated weather developments, especially those with 2 beaches and swimming pools must arrange a team of professional staff to be on duty for rescue and drowning prevention; have signs warning of unsafe locations, and regulate the operating areas of water sports service vehicles...
When organizing tours, travel agencies must absolutely ensure the safety of tourists, especially tours to islands by boat or canoe; and must not take tourists to dangerous places when the weather is complicated.
The Management Board of Hai Tac, Nam Du and Lai Son archipelago tourist areas has strengthened inspections and reminded tourism service businesses within its management to strictly implement measures to ensure safety for tourists; proactively respond to strong winds, big waves, thunderstorms and bad weather at sea.
