Asian Cup 2023 semi-final schedule.
Qatar and Uzbekistan drew 1-1 after 120 minutes in the final quarter-final match of the 2023 Asian Cup. And both teams had to decide the winner on penalties.
The home team Qatar opened the scoring thanks to an own goal by goalkeeper Utkir Yusupov (Uzbekistan). After conceding the goal, Uzbekistan increased their attack to find an equalizer. In the 50th minute, Odiljon Hamrobekov scored the equalizer 1-1 for Uzbekistan.
The match then became balanced, leaving both teams unable to score any more goals in the remaining time of the second half as well as the entire 30 minutes of extra time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
On the 11m penalty spot, goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham played excellently with 03 successful saves to help Qatar win 3-2, thereby advancing straight to the semi-finals.
This is also the only match in the quarter-finals that was decided by a "shootout" in this round.
