In particular, sectors, levels and socio -political organizations are interested in investing and mobilizing people to build street lighting systems combined with planting trees on densely populated roads, in order to build a bright - green - clean - beautiful space, contributing to maintaining security and order and protecting the environment in the border area.
The residential areas, clusters and routes of Tan Hong district are all arranged with land for planting native trees, trees (star apple, oil, purple-flowered tree, mother-of-pearl tree), multi-purpose trees with environmental protection and landscape value. The area for planting trees in rural residential areas in communes and towns is about 3.69m2/person on average. Tree planting to create shade and landscape is also carried out in public areas such as: agency headquarters, schools, Cultural - Community Learning Centers, and Hamlet Cultural Houses. In addition, the communes implementing the "Garbage-free River" model have promoted and mobilized people along the canals to register for garbage collection, not to throw garbage into the canals; and to plant flowers to create environmental landscapes. Thereby, contributing to completing the environmental criteria in the construction of new rural areas in the locality.
According to the functional sector of Tan Hong district, the amount of solid waste generated by people in the district is about 36 tons/day. Solid waste and non-hazardous solid waste are classified, collected and treated according to regulations. The whole Tan Hong district has 4 vehicles collecting solid waste with 15 workers. Dong Thap Urban Water Supply and Environment Joint Stock Company organizes the collection and transportation of solid waste to Dinh Ba solid waste treatment area for treatment. On provincial roads, district roads, and communal roads, there are more than 1,500 trash bins for people to throw trash and the collection unit gathers it to the centralized waste treatment area for burial, minimizing environmental pollution.
The amount of hazardous (infectious) medical waste generated in the district is about 12.5 kg/day; hazardous waste generated from the Medical Center, Medical Station and private clinics is collected and transported to Tan Hong District Medical Center for treatment. The Medical Center has invested in building a wastewater treatment system with a capacity of 110 m3/day; a medical waste incinerator with a capacity of 30 kg/hour. Tan Hong District has implemented waste classification at source so that people understand and classify waste more regularly.
Communes in the district have simultaneously implemented a model of collecting, classifying and treating household waste, with nearly 9,300 households participating. Notably, 100% of commune People's Committees and state agencies responded to the plan to reduce plastic waste within agencies and units at meetings using drinking water contained in glass bottles instead of disposable plastic bottles. Political and social organizations in 8 communes in the district regularly propagate to small traders and people to limit the use of plastic waste, use shopping bags, and limit the use of disposable plastic bags.
Promoting the achieved results, sectors, units and localities continue to propagate and raise awareness for people to participate in environmental protection; effectively classify, collect, transport and thoroughly treat waste into the environment, not allowing waste to accumulate in the district. At the same time, mobilize people to renovate their houses, build a bright - green - clean - beautiful environmental landscape; replicate cooperative models, cooperative groups, and teams participating in the collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste, cleaning village roads, alleys, and public areas to ensure green - clean - beautiful. Along with that, develop a plan to regularly inspect the implementation of environmental protection for production and business establishments, contributing to environmental protection in the border district of Tan Hong.
Communes in Tan Hong district have invested in 527 collection and storage pits and 3 areas for storing used pesticide packaging and transporting used pesticide packaging for treatment, limiting environmental pollution. In general, the collection and treatment of used pesticide packaging and bottles in the communes basically meets the regulations in Joint Circular No. 05 dated May 16, 2016 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) on guidelines for the collection, transportation and treatment of used pesticide packaging. |
