Construction of Hieu Liem Bridge to serve the expansion of Tri An Hydroelectric Plant

Hieu Liem Bridge in Tri An Commune (former Hieu Liem Commune), Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, is a grade II project, 249.5 m long, 9 m wide, built to serve the transportation of materials and equipment during the construction of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2025.

In the long term, Hieu Liem Bridge will serve the transportation needs of local people; at the same time, avoid public transportation on the dam project, ensuring safety for the existing and expanded Tri An Hydropower Plant.

Preparations for the construction of Hieu Liem Bridge meet Article 107 of the Construction Law No. 50/2014/QH13 dated June 18, 2014, amended and supplemented in Clause 39, Article 1 of the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Construction Law No. 62/2020/QH14 dated June 17, 2020. The construction site meets the conditions for construction according to regulations.

The contractor selection was completed and the contract was signed on December 26, 2024.

The construction contractor commits to implementing environmental protection measures, meeting the requirements in Approval Decision No. 2564/QD-BTNMT dated December 24, 2021 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment approving the Environmental Impact Assessment Report of the Project "Tri An Hydropower Expansion, Capacity 200 MW" and other requirements of the lender; ensuring safety and fire and explosion prevention.

Construction of Hieu Liem Bridge started

According to plan, Hieu Liem bridge will be completed in December 2025.

In order to be able to construct Hieu Liem Bridge on schedule, in addition to the effective work efforts and responsibility of the staff of Power Project Management Board 3, the attention of Vietnam Electricity Group, there is also the support and participation of the direction of local Departments, Boards and Branches in the work of compensation and site clearance and the support of the people in the area of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project... The preparation process for the groundbreaking of Hieu Liem Bridge has ensured strict compliance with the order and procedures according to current regulations.

Exactly 40 years ago, the Tri An hydroelectric project officially began construction with financial and technological support from the Soviet Union. The project was officially inaugurated in 1991 with 4 turbines, a total designed capacity of 400 MW, and an average annual electricity output of more than 1.7 billion kWh.
After being put into operation, Tri An Hydropower Plant has contributed to providing energy for the socio -economic development of 16 southern provinces and cities, ensuring industrial and domestic water sources for millions of people, and irrigation water for more than 20,000 hectares of rice fields and land in the downstream area. During its operation, the project has always ensured efficiency and safety.
To meet the increasing demand for consumer loads and take advantage of the excess water discharged during the annual flood season, EVN proposed to invest in the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project and was approved by the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1354/QD-UBND dated May 4, 2020 and adjusted for the first time on April 20, 2023, and the second time on March 28, 2024.
The project has a total installed capacity of 200 MW, including 2 units, each with a capacity of 100 MW. Once put into operation, it will contribute to increasing the ability to mobilize capacity for loads in the Southern region, especially during peak hours.
Contribute to improving the working mode of the Power System, thereby contributing to reducing the production cost of the National Power System; maximizing the capacity of the flow and contributing to reducing CO2 emissions; reducing the working intensity of the existing plant's generators, extending the life of the equipment.
