Speaking with reporters of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, Chairman of the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association (VBA), affirmed that in recent years, the Vietnamese beverage industry has actively integrated and developed to a position on par with other countries in the region following the general global trend: Green and sustainable.
Faced with the general difficulties of the world and domestic situation, the beverage industry is currently focusing on and striving to bring new and advanced technologies to meet the requirements of greening and circular economy .

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, Chairman of the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association (VBA)
As a bridge between businesses and the State, the Association always creates the best conditions to support businesses. At the same time, it recommends to State agencies to introduce policies to encourage businesses to promote green transformation, technological innovation, and continue to promote the important role of contributing to the economic growth of the beverage industry.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet assessed that beverage is one of the industries that directly serves human needs in life, so the requirements of greening and ensuring the best food safety to serve people's health are given top priority.
“ To do this, it requires businesses in this industry to actively innovate high technologies, in line with new trends, green, clean, circular and sustainable technologies. Currently, the beverage industry is actively implementing and needs to strive more,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Viet, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has recently had many activities to develop appropriate policies to support and promote the beverage industry to develop in a green and sustainable direction, such as: Draft Circular regulating the traceability of goods, Draft National Technical Regulations for alcoholic beverage products... to meet new development requirements of businesses and society. The Association will continue to research and collect opinions from businesses to propose and develop these regulations, ensuring that they are effectively implemented in real life, without causing difficulties for businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich - Director of Supply Chain Southeast Asia, AB-InBev Vietnam Company said that the focus on green and sustainable development activities at this enterprise is carried out from the stage of investing in production infrastructure, production lines to developing new product lines.
In particular, at AB-InBev Vietnam, in the production line, the solar power system has been directly installed, there is an on-site wastewater treatment system, recycled packaging, etc.
The company has applied solutions ranging from technological innovation to sustainable development and product diversification, helping the company adapt to the green transformation trend of the industry. AB InBev has been continuously investing in modern technology, smart manufacturing and efficient energy management to optimize the supply chain, reduce costs and limit environmental impact.
In addition, the company has implemented many programs to protect water resources and act for the community, affirming its commitment to sustainable development.
The inevitable revolution in the beverage industry
From an expert perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho - Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Policy Strategy ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) emphasized that the beverage industry is facing a mandatory revolution - green transformation. Accordingly, the goal of this revolution is to shift from the traditional linear model of "exploitation - production - disposal" to a circular economic model.
The core principle of this model is to eliminate waste and pollution by design, and to recycle materials and products at their highest value, regenerating natural systems.
Green transformation goes deep into the core of operations, turning waste into resources through re-valuation of by-products, efficient resource management and sustainable sourcing.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho, green transformation in the beverage industry through the circular economy model will bring strategic benefits. In particular, businesses will reduce costs by saving on raw materials through recycling; saving energy and waste treatment costs. At the same time, new revenue can be generated from creating value from by-products (waste) in the production process. In addition, businesses can also enhance their reputation by building sustainable brands, gaining the trust of consumers and investors.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tho emphasized that green transformation is not only an inevitable requirement for businesses but also an opportunity to improve competitiveness, attract investment and meet sustainable consumption trends. When the legal framework, recycling infrastructure and domestic technology are completed, the Vietnamese beverage industry can completely become one of the pioneering sectors of the national green economy.
According to the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association, the trend of the Vietnamese beverage industry has been investing heavily in green, circular and sustainable economy such as: Saving and reusing water in the production process; using raw materials without waste; reducing packaging materials, etc., helping to save resources and create new ideas. In addition, the trend of applying artificial intelligence AI in production and business management is also raising the production efficiency of the Vietnamese beverage industry to new heights.
