Lots of room for development in the beverage industry
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Viet - Chairman of VBA said that the beverage industry plays an important role in the country's economic development. Every year, the industry contributes over 60 trillion VND to the national budget and creates millions of jobs across the entire value chain - from agriculture, manufacturing, logistics to retail, the beverage industry and businesses.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, the Vietnamese beverage industry is considered to have much room for development in Vietnam, although the industry has been facing many difficulties and challenges. In addition, businesses must actively grasp and increase investment to develop according to new consumption trends, greening requirements, and circular economy.
The workshop was organized to update the Vietnamese beverage market, the latest trends, analyze challenges and opportunities, and create a bridge and forum for manufacturing enterprises, supporting enterprises, consultants from international organizations, and suppliers of new technology solutions to exchange and share information.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet emphasized: “ In the context of rapidly changing economy and consumer market, Vietnam's beverage industry needs to adapt flexibly, promote green transformation, technological innovation; continue to promote its important role in contributing to economic growth and the State budget.”

At the workshop, Ms. Chu Thi Van Anh - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association presented a speech on the topic: "Trends in the beverage industry, market, consumers and forecasts of policies that will impact beverage businesses".
Experts have updated information on the development of the world and Vietnam beverage market. Information on consumption trends, efforts and investment interests of beverage industry enterprises, towards sustainable development.
In particular, the beer industry, although recovering, is also being affected by tariff policies, the informal market due to the problem of beer from the grass,... changing consumer trends are also putting pressure on businesses.
The beverage industry has great potential for development with the focus on healthy products (sugar-free, vitamin-added, etc.) gradually dominating along with the green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly trend.
The wine industry faces many difficulties from the informal wine market, mainly artisanal wine, wine of unknown origin, etc., estimated at about 63% of wine consumption in Vietnam.
According to Ms. Van Anh, the trend of the Vietnamese beverage industry has been investing heavily in green, circular and sustainable economy such as: Saving and reusing water in the production process; using raw materials without waste; reducing packaging materials, etc., helping to save resources and create new ideas.
Besides, the trend of applying artificial intelligence AI in production and business management is also raising the production efficiency of Vietnam's beverage industry to new heights.
Proactively adapt to new trends
Ms. Chu Thi Van Anh said that although there is a lot of potential and room for development, the Vietnamese beverage industry is currently facing many challenges. Accordingly, the policy environment has, is and will impact the beverage industry such as increasing special consumption tax, protecting the environment, improving food safety management, tracing the origin of goods, labeling goods, amending standards and technical regulations for beverage products...
In addition, inflation, raw material prices, US tariffs, or changing consumer trends (switching to natural, healthy products, tightening spending, etc.) have a significant impact on the development of the beverage industry. All of these require businesses to update regularly and keep up with trends to adapt and develop.
“ In the context that the Vietnamese beverage industry is entering a period of strong transformation with increasing demands on food safety, health and sustainability, the application of modern technology in production has become an inevitable trend, helping businesses improve their competitiveness and adapt to new market trends ,” Ms. Van Anh affirmed.
